Locating A Good Shop/Garage (South Bay)
Hey guys,
As I begin to think about modifying my car (supension, tires, wheels, exhaust), I realized I need to find a reputable and highly recommended shop to have the work done. Anybody have experiences in the SF South bay (or Oakland area) with ordering parts, having them installed etc.? Plans thus far include the TRD Exhaust, suspension (springs for starters, Eibach?), TSW wheels, undetermined tires... and hopefully my bank account can take a break after that. Vex Motorsports, SonicMS, Speedelement, or if you want to venture to Livermoore D&M Autosalon. Shop around and see who'll treat you the best. I've only worked with Sonic and Vex, and Vex so far has treated me the best. Sonic wasn't bad, but I feel like had I had a BMW or Audi I would have gotten better quality service.
For wheels/tires I ordered TSW wheels from America's Tire and just picked up the wheels there. |

I'm looking at the Tein springs, the drop is ideal, but from the threads on the post, it would be messing up the handling/balance... the Eibach pro kit is 7/8" drop, which may be the safest, but i am tempted to look into sport line for the extra drop...
trying to debate which way is the best for me... since i don't plan to track/race my brz... grrr. |

Novato is much too far out of the way for me unfortunately.
As for the coilovers, etc. I like the look of the RS*R setup. A 1" drop with 18" wheels seems like the way to go. Denkigrve has this setup and it looks very clean. |

Exact Motorsports in Milpitas is good, I've taken my Lexus and MR2 there for routine maintenance but they also do performance mods/installs. ClubLexus guys highly recommended them. Also TireOutlet in San Jose (Alum Rock) for wheels, tires, JDM oils etc. They are Endless/Enkei dealer so they will try to sell you the good but expensive JDM stuff.

There is also GST in Hayward. For my WRx I make the drive to LIC in Novato, from San Jose. I'm thinking of going to Speed Element in San Jose for the BRZ.
