According to Toyota, this engine will deliver a lively, accessible performance and enhanced driving pleasure. Regarding the design, the new car will be very close to the FT-86 II Concept, which is inspired by the great Toyota cars of the past, starting with the legendary 2000 GT in the 1960s. In the concept form, the FT-86 II Concept measures 4,235mm long, 1,795mm wide and 1,270mm high, with a long, 2,570mm wheelbase.

If the car is coming out early next year it makes no sense to show us in December IMO. I have a feeling if that's is the case this car will come out late 2012 as a 2013.

You think so? It's possible show the final ver in Dec and in Jan/Feb they release it as 2012 ver.

if they want to generate enough interest by the end of the year or early next year, we'll need specs and final production sheet metal and such by mid/late summer.

It's from Best Car. They've spread so many false rumors on this car that I wouldn't trust their magazine to wipe my ass well, let alone get reliable info on any car.

I doubt it too. Especially after the earthquake. All the orders they will have to catch up on. Shortages of parts etc...

Not really, the car hasnt started production which means they can still start it on time without major delays.

if they announce it for scion at NY i expect some hard specs

Where did you hear this? All my information says that they are still right on track for a December show.

yeah why would it be cancelled? It's only northern Japan that is in a state of emergency go to okinawa,a kyoto, etc. and things are business as usual. Even then the reactor will hopefully be controlled worst case they entomb them.

However I will say this about Best Car; they were the first magazine to blow up the 'rumor' of an AE86 spiritual successor (at least that I remember, this was back like...2007?). A few years later, hey, they were actually right on it.
