TWINCHARGED (Supercharged & Turbocharged) Widebody "WTF-86" 86/FRS *MASSIVE* build :D
So I think I previously had a build thread on here but I guess you could say things got pretty serious :P
If you want to see the tiny details, the full build is here: https://www.facebook.com/streetfx86 Anyways, I will skip the boring stuff and get up to speed... Was this (stock): Then this (trd): Then we stuck an AVO turbo kit on it, which made the car feel like it should have from stock: Made this possible on semi slicks: Fitted AP racing brakes front and rear: Then the real fun started: Not being happy to be like everyone else, we moulded the kit into the body: Made some custom (functional) BRZ fender vents: Also didn't like the way the RB kit ditches the pretty rear fog light, so we moulded that in too: Added a Seibon hood (which we painted, as you will see later): After the car was painted, the 'original' stock colour, I decided I didn't like it.. I probably should have thought of this first: The toys meeting for the first time: Got some new rims: Choosing new color: With colour chosen, reassembly began: You can see the blue pearl in the bright white paint in this pic.. It's very noticeable in the sun - pics don't really do it justice: Lip, skirts and diffuser is painted in the 'Tornado Grey' metallic.. Inspired by the two tone white/grey of my R35 GTR. Body was completed.. : You can really see the blue pearl coming out in this pic: I suppose you will be happy to know that all the while the body was being done, the spare FA20 engine was undergoing an overhaul also: Sleeved, forged pistons, rods, decompressed: Kalen from Forged Performance built us an exhaust manifold (twice, because of clearance issues with the ATI pulley, but that is something I don't think either of us want to talk about LOL): Now for the specs, I most likely will have forgotten some stuff, but this is what I can remember off the top of my head.. Update: 10-Sep-2014:
Bullet superchargers has tracked down the big S5-335 monster supercharger, Kalen from Forged Performance has finished our manifold, and everything is now bolted together, ready to be dropped in.. 999 Automotive hooked us up some Whiteline bits, and Car mods Australia sourced us some Cusco suspension parts.. Here is the new supercharger: Much bigger than the standard Sprintex 150: Exhaust manifold by Forged Performance is beautiful! Clearance with the aftermarket crank pulley (we are running an ATI pulley which resulted in Kalen from FP having to make a whole new exhaust manifold in 4 days): Dummy engine with the manifold: Meanwhile back up in Brisbane, 999 Automotive supplied a whole catalogue of Whiteline suspension parts, and Car Mods Australia gave us a great deal on some Cusco arms. We also sourced some RacerX front LCA and rear UCA's to get maximum adjustment out of the beast: Another underside view showing the suspension setup: Got Grip?

Next we got ready for the really exciting part... Everything was ready to put together the engine at GT Auto Garage!
Now we are in the middle of installing a Forged Performance twincharged kit, utilising a monster S5/335 Sprintex blower, and a GTX hybrid turbo. Huge thanks to Kalen from Forged Performance for his insane amount of hard work to get us where we are on the twin charge. GT Auto Garage have got the old engine ready to be dropped out on Monday, then we hope to have it running within the next week. Updates to follow

One of the few RB kits that looks like the extra track width will actually be used! Love the molded look too, much more classy. If that's even possible with a RB twin.

How are you expecting the twin screw to flow more air than it already is at a given RPM? Pressurizing the air before it gets to the blower won't make it flow more air...

Interested to see how this works. Love the car and I'm sure this is a $75,000 car by now (with labor). Just more interested to see if a twincharged setup will work because I've seen a lot fail, and a lot not make good power.

That's what "compound boost" is all about. It multiplies whatever is fed to it. Rather than trying to explain from scratch, here's something prepared earlier, from Wikipedia: "compounded boost is always produced as the pressure ratios of the two compressors are multiplied, not added. In other words, if a turbocharger which produced 10 psi (0.7 bar) (pressure ratio = 1.7) alone blew into a supercharger which also produced 10psi alone, the resultant manifold pressure would be 27 psi (1.9 bar) (PR=2.8) rather than 20 psi (1.4 bar) (PR=2.3). This form of series twincharging allows for the production of boost pressures that would otherwise be unachievable with other compressor arrangements and would be inefficient."

I stopped counting when it got to six figures.. It just gets depressing.. I could make more power with just the turbo. The twin-charger is mostly because I have never had a supercharged car before and felt like being different. On top of this, I hated how ugly the engine bays are standard, so I figured if I cover the top of that boxer thing with a big supercharger it helps Other options were VR38 (my R35 GTR made me fall in love with the VR38), or a V10 from an M5, though both those options were getting into unknown territories with fitment and would have had big complications with engine management. I am not sure how well it will go yet, but we will see. If nothing else, it is a fun project, and if it causes us any grief we will go back to plain turbo eventually.. Time will tell
