Were those supposed to be 2012? That might shoot my materials idea out of the window.
Ooops.

Yes, 2012.

Thanks @CSG Mike for posting the info from Stu on gt86ownersclub.co.uk. Great info! This needs to be highlighted and stickied. Hopefully some of the South African members can keep us posted on whether this updated software fixes the issue.

Just heard back from a friend at Lexus after showing him the pics from the RSA TSB. Apparently the injectors on the IS actually use two nylon collars where the pics here indicate only one.

The thing is, all our cars will do this. They will all 'suffer' this. You just have to drive it in the 'right' way to make it happen.

The changes in calibration previously mentioned does not fix all the det issues. I get transient det if I slip the clutch slightly on changes, at any engine speed. Thing is, not all det is evil. I'm keen to find out what the composition of the cylinders are though, does anyone know? Is it some kind of coated aluminium?

That Stu guy is a legend. I vote sticky!

My car has started giving a fairly loud exhaust cam sound coming right from the back of the engine above 5k remp in 3rd gear. I think its just the sound tube but who knows.

I am about to buy a tune and be done with it, the more I research this issue it goes further than the shifting. Tuners are reporting half as much knock overall vs the factory tune with their datalogging. WRX/STI owners all report an aftermarket tune is a must for engine reliability. Doubt this boxer is any different.

I think there were like 18 or so when I first saw this thread, and now there are 24.

I just checked and there are 37,729 registered members here at this site. Just using that as a baseline that would mean that .00063611545% of registered members have reported the issue

Many registered forum members don't have the car yet. Further, some members aren't even past break-in either...your interpretation of the numbers is misleading.

Sure, lots of variables. You can also have people register and claim they had a DI issue and never even owned the car.

The number is most definitely higher than .0006%, but I would be shocked if it was higher than half a percent.
