I LOOOOVE Preludes. I was a sucker for the 3rd gen (1986 Si was my first car when I was 16). Then the absolutely stunning (at the time) 4th gen came out and I had to have one. Bought a brand new 1992. It was my first new car and I've never loved a car so much. I went on to own a 1991 Si and just a few years back (nostalgia purchase) picked up a near mint 1994 VTEC. I never really warmed to the 5th gen mainly because of the more boxy interior and exterior, and especially front lights.

One looks like an exotic, one looks like a stretched out civic. While I have a ton of respect for late 90s hondas, cars have come a long way in the last 20 years. Not sure people are cross shopping these two cars anyways.

A lot of the 90's era Honda cars (Prelude, Integra, Civic SI) were great. The one thing I would have wanted is RWD, which is probably why I'm in an FR-S today. Captures a lot of that lightweight, compact feel while adding RWD.

A RWD last gen prelude would be such a cool car. I owned a 98 SH before buying the FR-S. It was a very fun car, great seating position, plenty of power, and great looks. I had Tein
adjustable coil-overs and a few other suspension mods but I still don't think it handled as well as the FR-S on stock suspension. The prelude seemed very front heavy and under steered pretty severely at times. I miss "sporty" Hondas, seems everything they make now is centered around meeting EPA regulations, ie: CR-Z what the heck? |

honda
Honda needs to reintroduce the prelude as a rwd coupe to compete with the twins.
That would be sweet, I might even contemplate switching (ok no, but buying oone in addition to). Then use the same platform for a higher end sports car with a twin turbo honda v6 under the acura moniker, but considering they're bringing back the nsx that ain't likely... Jaden |

having owned a 98 SH a decade ago I can echo a few comments.
vtec was fun, similar acceleration and active wheel steering was amazing having never owned a RWD before then. it drove a bit heavier when turning and did feel sorta understeery if the torque didnt get sent to the outside wheel. the gearbox was a little smoother when shifting. trunk space was significantly larger. the twin feels more planted/ stable at freeway speeds. that was my last 'look at me' fire red before obtaining a milder black & now a white (vehicle). |

My first car was a 5th gen prelude with a h22 with a 5 speed gearbox and only mod was lowering springs/struts.
I remember that car being really fun to drive, but it didn't speak out and put a smile on my face every time i drove it. The frs on the other hand puts a huge smile on my face every time I get in. Loved the prelude, but I would take a frs over it any day. |

Came so close to picking up a white 97 back in the day. Test drove it and loved the seating position.
It was in rough shape! I remember shopping for the Vivid Blue Pearl model at around $22, 000. This is MANY years ago! The Prelude and the S2K hold their value as though they are the the new school vintage. The body lines of that generation somehow scream 90's Skyline to me – Love-at-first-sight kind of deal just like the 86. There's all this buzz about Honda/Acura possibly competing with Toyota. And of course, the Ironman car set to come out 2029 (NSX). Nissan as well. And yet, I walk by the Honda dealership all the time and see their flagship vehicle. The Honda Fit. Luckily there's normally an S2000 somewhere in the back parking lot to remind me of the good days. Fingers crossed for the future. I would probably contemplate swapping to a new Prelude like a little fanboy though. RWD or hit the road, Honda.
