If you are the type of person that can appreciate and live with a lightly modded Datsun 240z or AE86 you will like this car. The reason most people hate on this car is bc the majority of car people are all about power or comfort. Where this car is more about balance and control. Like the 240z or AE86.

Biggest mistake people make is to compare car performance by raw figures such as HP, 0- 60. Feeling of speed is better than speed itself. This car's handling dynamics and low driving position allows you to have loads of fun at legal speeds. Other cars may be more powerful but feel disconnected from road. Since you don't feel the speed you need to go even faster to experience the same thrill. Not a problem if you take it to the track. However on public roads, you are asking for trouble and trouble will find you.

I remember some years back, I was debating between buying an Evo IX or an IS350... After driving both and researching both passionately, I picked the car that my family was very doubtful of, yet the one that stirred my emotions... The Evo IX. No regrets. Choose the one that stirs your emotions the most after driving them. You'll somehow manage to convince your family as I did too... |

Pros: The twins are a top saftey pic and are excellent at avoiding accidents. They get over 30mpg combined if you know how to drive. They have comfortable seats for my sensitive back, superior driving position, handles phenomenally. Looks cool, sounds good, most fun per dollar etc
Tl;dr You can get fun, comfort (minus noise), saftey, and efficiency for 25k. That's a damn good bargain... Cons:The brz is noisy and the touch screen blows. Subie paint sucks. Crickets. Stock tires dont match handling characterisitcs. Low torque and hp Compared to it's competitors? A wrx has more power, space, awd (if needed) A focus st (most hot hatches for that matter) has more power and space, with similar fuel economy Mustang gt (many dealerships cut deals on them) is much faster and has many standard upgrades. A civic si is much cheaper, just as fast and efficient, has a bigger trunk, and is just as comfortable. It was a hard choice to get a twin. I test drove and got a 13' for 0% Thats the biggest reason I got it. |

I think it depends a lot on where you live. For example if it's in a relatively urban area or near mountains, these are areas where a car like the 86 that is nimble and agile and whose fun factor is not dependent on straight line speed will be preferable. But if I lived somewhere in flyover country with mainly flat, straight roads I would probably go for something like a Mustang GT.

I am lucky enough to own a couple of high powered sports cars that I track. ( 620 hp AC, a 480 hp Noble.) They both have plates on them so I can drive on the street. For daily driving I had a choice of many different cars. My last daily was a slightly modified mini s, 10 years of fun. The BRZ pulled me in. I have had it to the track, and found it to be great fun. I will admit that I am one who did want a little more getup and go. The little supercharger made a world of difference. Stock it is a great drive, it will teach you how to do it right. With a little boost the world opens up and you can not get the smile to go away. It allows me to rev and shift most of the time, the right foot has a close relationship with the floor. That type of driving is not possible with high powered sports cars anywhere but at the track. This little car is very predictable and has great manors.
If you can not tell I love driving it. I know of nothing this much fun to drive on a daily basis, no matter the price. |

if you like torque and don't plan to drop money to mod it, this is not the car for you. The car is quick but not fast! if you like the light weight and nimble sports car, this is it.
