They could also make a cover as they offer now, but it won't sit as low as the G37's, due to the FR-S antenna being just over an inch high. Also, I think part of the design of the fin cover is so that coiled cable inside sits as high as possible.

Update: So I was able to find a used FRS antenna on ebay and gut it. The connectors are the same, it's just missing one of the pins on the harness (leading to the XM antenna). Leaving the XM off, FM works alright, obviously way worse reception with such a tiny antenna nub (I only made a simple wire antenna that was about 2 or 3 inches long). I'll revisit the antenna I soldered into the circuit board when I actually need to. Basically, I get all of the radio broadcast in my hometown -- in HD, but not very much from SF (~50 miles away and over a hill or two).

I plasti dip sprayed the G37 shell flat black since I didn't have time to color match to WRB. I'll take care of that at a later time. It looks a little dusty, and that's probably because I need to rinse it off.

tl;dr: it can be done to a USDM BRZ, it's just a little more complicated.

So you put the BRZ antenna chip and what not inside the FR-S one?

No, the BRZ one for USDM can't fit in the g37 housing at all. I took the FR-S board and inserted it like the instructions from @Spidey. The FR-S radio plug fits in the BRZ terminal, you just lose SAT radio. You can always rip that out of the BRZ antenna and plop it in since only one of the two wires is actually connected in the FR-S wiring see:

This is the FR-S plug, the BRZ one is identical, but it has both ports filled; one for SAT and one for terrestrial radio.

How come that fr-s antenna base has no hole to screw in the antenna?

I'll save @drtepper the time by saying it's not the FRS base, as he mentioned in the post just above yours. Only the guts of the antenna are from the FRS, the base is from the G37, and it's installed on his BRZ.

Yeah, as stated by @civicdrivr , this thread has boiled down to "How to migrate the insides of an FR-S antenna into a G37 base" . Unfortunately, there was no way to get a USDM BRZ radio board into a G37 base, so I had to get a FR-S antenna an use its smaller innards. -- That's all I was posting about.
