Well we had our season SCCA opener and I got meet another user from here. Another good driver. Strangely there were only 2 of us in C street and he ended up beating me by almost a second. I ended up paxing 25/102 so it wasn't too bad. 50's with extremely high winds. On my best run I actually ruined it by avoiding boxes that were blown across the course which made me go slow and tight with a lil box slalom that wasn't suppose to be there. All day cones were simply dancing so it was a "dynamic" course that seemed like it slightly changed from run to run lol. On ot the vid with bonus footage of my first of many spins this season. This was still on 215 rs3 v2 as the Rivals are on backorder till the end of time

Are there going to be any legality issues with the rival S for April events given their limited availability? My 225s will be here Tuesday and first event of the season up here is on the 12th.

As long as you ordered them through regular channels, ie tire rack or local store, you'll be fine. The availability rule is mainly for guys with hookups that may get a tire months before it's available to the general public.

Nice putting the face to the username. Yeah, the wind was really unpleasant. 25mph steady, gusting to 40+. Cones were definitely moving, and there was some dodging of debris from the neighboring flea market.

Still, a bad day racing beats my better days working.

Here's my fast run.

See you at the Pro.

Well, I sincerely hope the FRS folks find a good setup with the TRD parts and make a good showing at the big events this year - it will be interesting to see if a 'name' driver thinks the parts will make a big enough difference and jump into the class (or switch from another CS car).

I've decided to try something a little different this year:

I do still have the BRZ. As I mentioned it is a great DD for me and you never know - it may end up in ES as well (without the TRD/RS FRS's?) in another couple years

Another year like last year and the Mazda guys might get the Spyder booted back up to CS.

I actually don't make it to many DMVR events. Mostly Iowa region. Have we met?

It's going to be an interesting year in ES for sure. Last year there were a ton of holdouts in ESR, assuming they move to street tires I think a lot of them (especially Bartek) will give the Spyder a run for its money. For reference he beat the CS winner by nearly four seconds.

Well, it took more than a couple days, but these are most definitely for sale and Renfield has passed, so shameless plug to the members classifieds section:

Yeah, I think the MR2 going to CS is going to be the least of my worries!

Probably not, I grew up in Des Moines, but have been in southern california for the last 30 years (military). Most my family is back there, so I usually head back every couple years. Class reunion is this year in august. I figured someone that can place in the upper half and some times trophy in socal could probably do very well in DSM.

It's been a couple years since I was at DMVR but they didn't seem to have many CS regulars. Maybe the tire situation has changed that. But yeah, probably. Might have a tougher time with the Great River Region.

I'm not entirely sure you'll see Bart/Hubert back in an autocross car soon, they have gotten very much into cycling instead. They won enough free Hoosiers for their ITR/Miata to never have to really buy new tires, not sure they want to deal with figuring out which street tires to use and spend the money on it.

MR-S is a fun car. More fun with an engine swap.
