This makes me worried, I have a 2012 model with extended warranty, once it expires in Oct 2018, I don't want to be in a situation one day where I have to cover these types of costs outside of warranty

I just had my 2012 model in for its 75000 km service and as always I go fishing to see the TSB's. I saw one for 2013 models with regards to contaminated conrod bearings. Is yours a 2013?

Yuki has 58900km odd. No reasons albeit I'm guessing oil starvation if some of the other threads on here are correct. Asked for the report, the warranty peeps got and still waiting.

Car is back in my grubby little hands After 3 weeks of not driving it.
Took it for a short drive.. spirited at times and it drives perfectly. Clutch feels a little different(?) but maybe I've been driving differant cars and I've forgotten the feel.

Total cost was 51k (50k sorted by warranty, 1k out of pocket). Just the short block was replaced. No furking idea where the dealership got 114k from but the car is fixed and I'm happy about it.

Didn't get the "official" cause of the problem but dealership says they have no idea what it could have been or was.

Might upload the statement if anyone is interested but for the moment...

That's excellent. I'm assuming you need to run it in again?
Maybe do a 100km oil change this time?

Service manager didn't mention anything. Paid, said let me know if there are any issues and off I went.

How easy is it to replace the oil? Simple jack, drain, fill ?

Well new short block I'm assuming would at the very least mean new rings as well.

Oil change is easy, you just need to remove the belly plate if I'm not mistaken. Oil and filter plus crush washer from Toyota.

Nope, just a simple crush washer that goes on the sump plug.

You can have it extended by another 2 years, for R7500.
That will take it to Oct 2020.

Interesting...always though 6 years was the max on the 86.
