You would figure that after all these years. They should of switched to metal headgaskets.

You also have to remember that coolant is 50% water and that system is not sealed. It is possible some of it evaporated.

Thats something else for people to be aware of, if you are in warm climates in traffic and a lot of idle situations your coolant will hit 220ish on the stock radiator. Which puts you at the cusp of some evaporation of water. Get yourself some type of OBD2 tool and monitor your coolant temps. See where they peak. If you are seeing higher temps than 220F do a pressure test of your cooling system. Could be as simple as a small leak. Or even air in system, bad cap. Dont jump to worst case.

Mine was the same. I bought a jug of coolant and topped it off to about 1/4" above full mark back in April at 16000km and now have 28k and showing 1.25" lower than when I filled it up. The only thing that come to my mind is that the factory bleeding method to get the air out is suspect as this system is very similar to my old nissan 300zx turbo (Z31) and that was a bitch to bleed! The reason I suspect it to improper bleeding is that it hasn't moved since bleeding and I haven't had to top it off since either and if it were to be a head gasket I would think that the level would drop much faster.

First few months I had the coolant smell, at weird times.. Like a quick run to the store, but not a long run to work.. And other times after a hard run, but no smell just putting around town.. It was never consistent.. I'll be keeping a eye on this thread and checking coolant tomorrow... It's been hot here in Vegas, and while I check my oil regularly I haven't checked coolant... If it has been low I hope my services at the dealership have been filling it up properly

Just wanted to let you guys know that I picked up the car this morning. I'll post the entire parts list later tonight.

Ill hold off giving any reviews of the car until I get some more miles on it, but I will say that I missed it dearly

Nope. My paperwork also didn't say a thing about an overrev or goodwill work.

I'm going to search for my cable for the Techstream once I get home and see if I cab find where it would be. I need to update the TPMS sensor IDs anyway.

Besides that, I went for a drive on my lunch break. Maybe its my imagination, but it feels like it has more power above 4k rpms. But that might just be because I'm used to that pos Prius.

Given your issues I am sure it makes a big difference.

And I was stuck with a Prius and then Corolla, it makes you wonder how anyone could spend that much money on those cars. Absolutely as exciting as watching toilet overflow full of turds.

Nice. Interested in hearing what happened with the black box info/what kind of lip the service dept gave you.

1 00295-00103 FIPG OIL PAN
1 00272-GTBC1 GT SUPER LLC BLUE
002449 ENGINE OIL 11679 WT

The car feels great. One thing that I noticed though - below 4k rpms the car felt very sluggish. It had a very on/off feel to the powerband. I say felt because I figured out what the issue was yesterday. They replaced the little cover that goes on the intake manifold. The problem was that I had trimmed the cover for the vacuum line running to the AOS. The line was pinched due to the cover. Fifteen minutes of trimming/filing and its back to the way it was, and the car feels peppier below 4k now.

To any of the posters besides Civicdrivr who were also experiencing low coolant levels, what was your outcomes? The coolant level on my FRS is low, and I am taking it to the dealer. Rather than just fill it up, I figured I would just take it in so that I have documentation in case anything arises later on.
@civicdrivr - thanks for all the info in this thread. Glad you have been reunited with your FRS. You have my sympathies of dealing with Priority service department; been there, done that.

That can't be cheap. Can anyone run the numbers on the parts used in the repair of @civicdrivr's vehicle? I've often wondered what a new head would cost...
