Anyone call their dealership about the RS? I had a buddy that asked around and everyone had a $5k+ mark-up. One dealership wanted $47k because the only ones they were getting in had the RS2 package.

My rs2 is at MSRP. Most people buying them have em at MSRP.

In Florida? Here is the email quote from one of the dealers in Colorado...

"Here is the specs on the gray RS we have on order. A $1,000.00 deposit would hold the car for you. Pricing on this car is $47,275.00 which includes a $5,000 market adjustment for the limited availability of these cars. "

That's a greedy dealer ordering high spec cars. There are people from states around CO flying into CO to buy their cars at MSRP configuring to their spec.

Only the greedy dealers are charging ADMs and only really greedy dealers are ordering high spec cars themselves instead of customer spec cars and adding ADMs.

If you really want one, check focusrs dot org forums and you can likely find some dealers there. It only took me about 20-30 minutes to find one at MSRP in Florida at a dealer 25 minutes from me. Would have taken less if 2 of the 4 dealers I talked to knew what the car was.. the first one did want 5-10k so I laughed. That dealer is the biggest in the area and is 5 minutes from me... and now selling at MSRP since no one was about to pay the ADM.

I don't know. I think a lot of people say they are paying MSRP and are not, but that is just me. I contacted 14 Ford dealers within a 200 mile radius of where I live (Minnesota) and 12 of them wanted $5-10K markup over MSRP. Two of them told me they would sell me at MSRP but had no allocated cars and would try to order one and hope for the best.

One of those 12 dealers that wants ADM originally told me MSRP and took a $500 deposit for one of their allocations. Then they called me back and said they cannot sell the car without a $7500 ADM. I spoke to the manager and he told me he "would do me a favor and knock it down to $5K ADM". Got my $500 deposit back and walked away.

I would also check your order sheet. If it says "prices subject to change" or some other similar language, watch out. Because I know of two people that had Ford dealers (even after a deposit and order sheet in hand) come back and change the price when the car arrived and added a dealer markup on the final paperwork. These were on Boss Mustangs.

Ford dealers are really shady.

It's certainly possible that some people are lying to not make themselves look like bad negotiators or something and also possible that Ford dealers will turn out to be total ****s.

I could have bought a Boss for less than MSRP from the local dealer who wanted a $40k ADM initially.. it was still sitting there 2 years later.

If my Ford dealer tried to be a jackass I will just walk away. It'll be disappointing but not the end of the world.

Sorry for the negative tone, I certainly agree that many are paying MSRP but there was one person at focusrs.org who claimed MSRP near me and when I probed him for the dealer info he finally admitted he was paying a $1200ADM. When I contacted the dealer I was told he was actually paying a $5K ADM Not sure who to believe, but yeah there are some people who are definitely not being honest about the price. It's the internet. Some of this is regional and my personal opinion is that the Ford dealers near me are in collusion and have added the ADM. As of three weeks ago, most of the allocation that had the ADM attached were still available so most people are not paying it. I guess the dealers are counting on rave reviews and people paying it because they can't wait.

The two dealers who are only charging MSRP on orders are great to work with and I have bought a number of cars from their automotive group over the years and have no reason to doubt they are lying. They just had no allocations. I still have an order with them that has not been picked up but I ended up going in another direction (Golf R).

RS is going to be an awesome car for sure and cannot wait to start hearing impressions of the car. The AWD system sounds much more advanced than what Subaru and VW are offering right now.

Oh and the dealer who pulled the fast one on me (the car is MSRP with a $500 deposit) and then changed it to a $5K ADM is Superior Ford in Plymouth MN for those of you who may care. Stay away. At least they did not try to fight me on getting my $500 back.

Yeah, as I am getting older I am learning that sad truth that if you want ANY negotiating power, you gotta be willing and ready to walk away.

My wife and I bought a house recently and probably overpaid for it because we were not willing to walk away. I could have gotten a better deal on my FR-S but same thing. Sales people can definitely tell when you are getting ready to let it go.

Yeah, but when you've got 25 cars like @Dave-ROR has it's easy to walk away.

Didn't think you were that negative probably right on with many. Heck my dealer sold their 1st allocation for $5k over but the 2nd and 3rd at retail. They just wanted the first guy to pay extra and he was glad to do so I guess. I got their 3rd allocation sold within a day or two since it was at MSRP.

Since those dealers are sitting on allocation I wonder if they'll be a lot more flexible in a month when they start getting built.. actually they should start getting built next week.

@Dave-ROR

How do you like the Focus RS?

I have considered trading in my Toyota 4Runner for one.

I had a 2011 STi hatchback and I liked it a lot, and regret selling it. I think this is a way to get a usable rocket ship again.

One other thing, my STi had a bit of "push" or understeer. I read that they dialed that out a lot with the new WRX and STi, but they don't have a Hatchback. The Focus adjustable with where the power can go? Does it understeer ot oversteer etc...

I know your driving>mine so I value you what you have to say over say Consumer Reports that will say stupid stuff like "Nice Stereo and good sunroof, Turbo was too loud though...7/10"
