Search for a unicorn 2014 FRS (CA)

I'm finally getting close to purchasing a 14 Whiteout FRS (6mt) with no add ons.
I've called in my local dealer (who I bought my 10 corolla from) and told them exactly what I wanted etc.

However, the issue seems to be that they can not 100% gaurantee that it doesn't have the front license plate drilled in.

This for me is a deal breaker. While I understand it's California law, i've seen many pick them up before they drill the front of the car.

Anyone in California have any experience with this or know a good dealership that will pull some strings to get me what I want?

Dealer drills the holes.

Make it real simple: "if you want to sell the car to ME, then it wont have holes in the bumper..."

Tell them you'll sign a waiver if needed.

The waiver seems to be an interesting point.

I've made it pretty clear that I wont take delivery on it, if it has the holes but they kept saying that it can't be confirmed either way..

get a front plate relocator kit, tell them to supply the plate and you will install it at the lot before driving it off?

I would demand to them that, "if you want my business and you want this sale, please simply abide by my simple request - do not drill any plate frame onto any bumper, ever."

I went to Scion Stevens Creek and received my FRS with nothing drilled into it. I actually didn't even have to request it, it just came with nothing drilled. Perhaps I got lucky there. However, all the FRS I see at the Scion Stevens Creek dealership never have the front plate mounted.

if holes in a plastic bumper are going to keep you from getting this car im sorry bro but that would be the least of my concerns. Dealerships drill the holes so the car if new should come without the holes drilled.

Their reasoning was that all the new cars are drilled into before they are even shown to customers..

However, I'm pretty sure I've seen them not that way!

I dont think its a legality issue, it is more them having the scions already drilled into

I think it is just another process that is applied after the car is built.

Some of these people's responses to you are so dumb...

"if holes in a plastic bumper are going to keep you from getting this car im sorry bro but that would be the least of my concerns. Dealerships drill the holes so the car if new should come without the holes drilled."

Great point and contribution...unbelievable ha

Thats what I thought, @1086, but it makes no sense to how some people have 14s with no holes..

Also thank you for the suggestion of the San Jose dealer, I'll be on the prowl there if my local people can't do it for me!

i told my sales guy that I needed the car untouched and not washed by the dealership, and also with no license plate drilled or mounted. He was more than happy to make sure that happened. Unfortunately I'm in Socal so I can't help you there. Tell em if they can't do it you'll find someone willing to accomodate you.

If you are getting a car that has been on the lot for a couple weeks it will likely have been washed and drilled. If you have one that is arriving off the boat and immediately going to you, you can request the dealer not drill the holes. They will have you sign a waiver regarding this.

I'm in NY and i asked for them not to drill any holes in the front bumper and they did just that, when i got there he had both plates and the mount for the front i told him i had already ordered the relocation kit and it was on its way so he handed me the front plate put the rear plate on and that was that. i did order the car in September and got it in November but that is a whole other issue. If you are ordering the car and they are getting in straight from the dock it shouldn't have any holes, if they are getting it from some other dealer or something that might be another story.
