you guys are aware that when someone parks next to when you decide to park far away from everyone else, they are doing it on purpose? more than likely planning on damaging your car or just doing it to piss you off. i think im better off finding a nice parking space between two decent cars that did a good parking job.

If i see an end space, i usually park there and as close to the end as possible (leaving more space on the side with the other spaces.

One time i parked in a shopping center for lunch, was about to get out but another car pulled into the spot next to me. It was a mom and daughter not more than 12 years old...daughter just pushed open the door and it swung wide open and smashed into my mirror (different car).... it was plastic and flexed and didnt leave a mark or damage it, luckily... but as soon as that happened, their faces just dropped and their expressions were priceless

Went to a car show today, parked in the spectator lot in the farthest corner againts the curb, atleast 20 cars away from the nearest vehicle, as my brother and i are walking away a guy in a ford ranger minitruck sees my car reverses like 100 ft to park right next to my car with like 1ft gap between his door and my car, i just walked back unlocked my car while he sat in his truck, moved mine to another spot and just gave him the "look"

30 seconds later in my new spot away from everyone a primered integra on steelies parks next to me, i said screw it and went to the show....

Im not that worried about my car as i daily drive it, but i dont mind walking the extra distance to keep that inevitable door ding from happening but people are like magnets and feel the desire to park next to me anyways, its a lost cause

I went to the mall in Milford, CT on the 4th of July to see a movie. I parked my FR-S against the edge of the parking lot far from everything.

I went in and had something to eat before seeing the movie. Hours later I come out to find that the town of Milford holds their fireworks at the mall and it just so happens that they did theirs on the 4th. They had just finished. Every single space was filled. There were lawn chairs everywhere, people sitting on tailgates, coolers, kids and terrible terrible traffic two wide down every row of people trying to leave. No car was safe.

I walk/ran through it all to my car hoping it was OK. On one side there was plenty of space but on the other the asshole had left mere inches between the two of us.

Took me an hour to get out of that parking lot. Somehow I got through unscathed in my 6 day old FR-S

this is what i do too,
but one time it back fired on me,(not a 86 btw) the wife and i went shopping at a high end shopping mall in shanghai, i parked between a merc c65 and a new unbadged bmw 5 series, as we walk towards the mall, the owner of the merc and his girl friend come back, walking and having a arguement, she swings open the massive silver merc door and slams it into our car, she gets in and trys to close the door but cant, its jammed on my cars door handle, me seeing this happen i flip out and run over looking like im gona smash her one, the guy is now super pissed off at her and yelling insults at her,

i had to push on the merc's roof to get the door free.
the guy was nice and apologetic about it and i could see he was a car guy too so i waved it off as stupid girl sh!t.
no real damage was done, but the stupidity of it all was mind blowing, she knew we where still close by when she did it, sometimes i wonder why we cant hit girls

(Transformers 1, in the car yard when bumble bee smashed the beatle next to him with his door, thats what it looked like to me in my mind)

Nice reply...I agree with Tanuki. How often does the front of your car get bumped? I'll take my chances as well...

I don't know what the big deal is. Basically, BumpShox is just slightly larger license plate holder. Being made of neoprene instead of hard plastic, it offers a bit of protection for low speed bumps. When you parallel park, clumsy drivers often bump the bumper of the car behind them.

Why did that dude wanna mar the bumper of his brand new car as well as yours? It really escapes comprehension...

It might be time to buy some spike strips and place them around your car when you park:

Or some of these, if you're not feeling quite
so vindictive:
