Has anyone compared the rumored price range to....

The original ae86

Although I couldn't find much info, the 1988 Toyota Corolla GTS had an MSRP of 12,478, not counting options and fees. According to an online inflation calculator, this would come out to $23,895.42 today. Point is, could this price be considered when predicting the final price of the FRS? If anyone could find the price of an 87' GTS that would be more useful.

That won't help any but for its time, the ae86 was pretty pricey

I think this guy is onto something. But I believe it will be cheaper than that by $1,500-$2,000.

I think 22k is a safe bet since a Civic Si starts at that price with more contents like a sunroof.

Cool

Sounds like the right price for me, after all we know the Toyota one will likely be more expensive then the Scion with options and so on.

so about 2kish cheaper for US base spec... which is right about 22k

Good move for them since US dollar is getting weaker? >..> and we do know Scion offers more basic cars. I never understand the logic behind how they started Scion as a new sub brand, can someone fill me in?

I'm hoping for a little lower base because I want some expensive options like leather and a sunroof if offered and I really can't go past $25k, even that is pushing it. It wouldn't be so bad but with the pure pricing, I know I can't talk the price down at all.

As for why Scion was started, I would think it was the fact that toyota totally lost the young adult market when they killed the Celica. The only other car they had that somewhat appealed to younger people was the corolla and that was pretty much just because of the price vs. reliability. The scion brand is obviously targeted at young America with prices most young people can afford, and some crazy styling. Most young people don't care about alot of the amenities like leather, climate control, etc. They want a new car that looks cool that the can afford and that's what Scion offers them. This is my best guess lol

I wish a sunroof could be a option but unfortunately there was a guy from Toyota that said no to that.

It's because they are obsessed with the low CoG the car has to have plus low price. I would'nt bank on leather either.

I understand but just don't offer it standard, only offer it as an option. If someone wants it, then they'll have to pay a premium for it. This goes for sunroof, leather, auto-dimming rearview mirror, etc. How are any of those options going to mess with the low CoG? I understand they want to keep the base price low, and thats fine, so offer these as options and people who want them will just have to pay a pretty penny for them, which is something I am prepared to do.

If you really want a sunroof and they don't offer one. You can go to a body shop and have one installed. Hell, they have them through JC Whitney: http://www.jcwhitney.com/dual-contou...wx?filterid=j1

I doubt we'll see a Targa Top on anything, outside of exotics for a really long time.
