Had MPSS and could slide all over if I wanted. Replaced them with Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s and they car is now planted. Maybe the MPSS are good but these are just better.
I didn't just jump into buying them either because one or two people recommended them. After reading every possible thing to do with these tires on the internet, it all comes to
the same conclusion they're the best bang for buck in Summer tires right now. Head over to Tirerack and just go through reviews and look at the top rated Summer performance
tire categories. If you're you're at the track a bunch, then look at "Extreme performance Summer". If it's mostly street driving you're doing then "Max performance" or "Ultra high
performance" you want.

I don't think the RE71Rs make a lot of sense for a daily driver, but that's just me. I value things like wet performance very highly for a daily tire, and while the RE71Rs are good in the rain, they won't match something like the Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

I want to be able to drive in torrential rain without fear of hydroplaning. I love the MPSS. Their wet grip abilities are magical, and in the dry I like that they have plenty of grip when needed, but still allow you to kick the rear end out, or sideslip under heavy throttle, when you want to.

If daily driving Continential DW gets my vote. Reasonably quiet. Good tread wear. Good in the rain. Great amount of grip.

If its just a fun car for you then I like the Nitto Nt-05. I have them on my car right now and the level of grip they provide is insane. Provided its not wet or under 50 degrees out.
That said they are a very loud tire and tread wear on them is not good. You will get 20k miles max on a set of these.

Agreed with this or the RS-4s.

This is generally the fall back "daily" or "wet" tires a lot of the DS/STX guys run.

I run S-04's on the BRZ in daily fashion. I've run those an MPSS and have been very impressed with both options. The S-04 is better value for money, they seem to last comparably. The S-04 has stiffer sidewalls, which make up for the slightly squirmier tread, but they are better in the rain than the MPSS, which are slightly better in the dry, and have slightly smoother feedback, but the S-04 gives you more overall feedback.

I run RE-71R's on my Forester XT, which sees about 5k miles a year, many of them in the winter, ( I run dedicated winters of course!) During the summer, I bring it out, lay down 24psi of boost everywhere I go, and hit an autox or two. They just finished year two on the car and have used about 60% of their viable tread, (next summer will be their last.)

They are every bit as sticky and wonderful as I had hoped they will be. I think that car gets few enough miles that I will continue running them or their comparable replacement, they last long enough time wise that I don't really care that I get so few miles out of them, ('regular' tires would dry rot before I used them all on this car.)

If it got more miles, or saw track instead of autox time, I would strongly consider the RS-4, or Maxxis Victra V1.

For your use case, I would run MPSS or S-04's. Both really great options.

+1 on the continental DW, they handle the wet like a champ and grip well. Long service life as well.
