Same here Muskokan. Mines in the shop as of 9am this morning. Service advisor told me "this is our first one so it might take the full 4-6 hours.". I'm like.... Oh boy I wish this wasn't the case, I want this chipping cricket-fest to cease immediately. Not going to wait for the dealerships to become "experienced" at installing the newest HPFP. Let's see whose car is ready first..... I say the over/under is 4 3/4 hours.

Nearing 400 miles right now. No abnormal noises during idle or at any other engine state: cold or warmed up.

Not yet anyway.

Gas tank is almost on empty. Maybe I'll get lucky and it's the crap at the bottom of the gas tank. Not likely though.

1000 miles on the JB010 pump with no noises to report here.
Been using all different fuel companies to see if I can notice anything.

I'm torn between, "Do I go back to the dealership and become "that guy" and get multiple pumps replaced?" or "F it, wait another year and watch others replace pumps and wait till it is confirmed by a larger crowd." Losing faith in this pump all together and this was the first drastic change.

Our Fuel pump problems are really very benign compared to BMW's shit show that was the introduction of their direct injected "N-54" 3.0L twin turbo in-line 6 cyl engine. The majorly detective fuel pump led to common engine failures, rough idle, rough starts and loss of power. Read about the debacle in detail via the link to the sticky on Bimmerfest.

Haha I got the same "first time" 4-6 hour story too! Mines done now I'm in the dealership taxi on my way to pick her up.

Alright so went for a good drive and stopped a couple times to observe, 2 things I noticed:

1. Direct injection tick is consistent now, doesn't come and go like my last pump.

2. While engine at idle didn't sound noticeably smoother, the sound of pulling away in low rpms however sounds a lot smoother in my opinion, you don't hear that diesel like struggling sound.

This was after multiple redlines and hard driving for half hour, to make sure she was nice and toasty

Keep y'all updated!

Yeah... I miss that sound now. It only took 1 tank of gas for me. I'm going to keep watching to see if others are having success beyond 1,000 miles and I may consider having it replaced again.

They didn't have my fuel pump replacement completed until 3:30p. I dropped off car at 9a. I had to go to work so picking her up tomorrow am.

I told them "absolutely do NOT wash this car!" Last time I was in I placed signed on dash and on windshield. Forgot the signs this time. Paranoid of getting swirl marks with crappy dealership washing techniques. Wife thinks I'm nuts. A total car geek.

This is why I'm waiting until my warranty is almost up. The crickets don't bother me that much, and I'd rather just do one fix with the most updated solution.

FWIW, Acura is having crickets with the new RLX and MDX DI high pressure pumps.

Took my BRZ in this morning to have the fuel pump replacement and the crackling sound in the rear trunk looked at. They gave me a Forester as a rental but it had no freakin' gas Will update once I get it back today.
