Went to pick up our youngest son at the airport late this afternoon.

Yep, a Friday night, in Seattle, in the rain, dark, holiday traffic, madhouse airport traffic..

We made it back from the airport OK.

However, my son is a nervous wreck ........ he said, after 2 tours in Iraq and 2 tours in Afghanistan, he has been scared a few times ....... but, nothing like riding with me in my FR-S, at night, in the rain, in holiday traffic around the airport .......

I DID NOT CRASH .......

There may not be a next time ........ when we arrived home and after he quit shaking, he was on the phone to Uber, making reservations for his return trip to the airport .....

Well folks, I just made a run to the airport and back to drop off my son.

Yep, we blasted off at O dark thirty (0430) in the rain, driving my death trap FR-S. My son asked if he could use my old motorcycle helmet...... but then, decided not to ..... figuring he would rather be dead, than a vegetable for the rest of his life.

mrs humfrz, with a tear in her eye, gave me a "goodbye" kiss ......

Off we roared into the night, freeway full of 4x4s intent on squashing my car and commuter drivers driving like they had nothing to lose. I only drank a half a cup of coffee, so I wouldn't have to pull off on the side of the freeway to pee. But, without more coffee my eyes wouldn't focus very well at all.

Guess what ........ I DIDN'T CRASH ...........

Have driven my FR-S in the rain and snow here in Colorado, commuted to work and gone on joy rides in the mountains, have done several track days and a few autocrosses... and have not crashed.

But my wife finds the car terrifying because the one and only time she drove it, she said it tried to crash her while she was merging into traffic from an on-ramp. She's convinced it's unstable and dangerous.

So, for my own safety, she bought me a motorcycle for Christmas. Seriously. A little Honda CB300F. It has 30hp. And while it is a great beginner's bike, and is therefore wholly appropriate for a relatively inexperienced rider such as myself, I had to break her heart with the news that it isn't likely to replace my fondness for 'dangerous' and 'unstable' RWD sports cars.

It snowed on Christmas morning at my house, and expecting traffic to be light, I thought I'd go out for a spin. My wife thought I might actually take my new bike. I went out and hooned the FR-S instead.

And did not crash.

Well, Resolute, that was nice of your wife to get you a motorcycle for Christmas ......

If she thinks riding a MC on snow covered roads is safer for you than your FR-S, either you have summer tires on your car or you are just a horrible driver.

What I suggest is that you take your wife out in your FR-S and convince her that it's a perfectly safe and stable automobile.

Once you have accomplished that, please PM me and let me know how you did that ....... so, I can try that out on my wife.......

Drove my older granddaughter, in my FR-S, up to the store to help me grocery shop today.

She insisted on sitting in the back seat.

I asked her why the back seat .. ??

She replied ..... "because it's safer back here".

We DID NOT crash !......

Drove my FR-S a little over 60K miles in 2 years; did not crash. Planning a ~1500-mile round trip to Louisiana in mid-May (with 4 adults in the car) for my #3 daughter's wedding; planning to not crash.

A street I work on was shut down last year for a couple hours cause someone flipped their twin upside down. I wonder what happened. The street is quite narrow and the limit is 50. And it's a school zone...

Wow I don't think I could tolerate driving that far with more than 1 other person in the car....but I am 6'3"

I drove to/ from work and did not crash...but realized I definitely need new wipers
