So did another high speed test this week let's just say it's bad! First off I changed rims and tires, still na. I got a cheap set of rims that weigh a lot but I figured it make it look better and I could test a fitment that I wanted with out spending 2000 and being disappointed. So for tires I went with a meaty tire a 245/40-18 instead of a 225/40-18 yea I know crazy right. So first few days there was rubbing because I hadn't got a alignment. After the alignment no rubbing unless I hit a big bump going to fast or let's say the was a steep inlince like a drive way. So all good there. ... so. The test run I was expecting to hit 160 165 because the bigger tires in effect lower final drive ratio. So yes it's a bit slower driving around town but it's smoother too! Well I end up hitting 137 Wtf! Any thoughts. It's either the heavy rims or the cars power level doesn't have enough with the new final drive to push faster. I think that their is it not enough power now. Really sucks I guess il have to go back to a normal tire size and see what happens!

When you changed the tyre size did you recalibrate the speedo or are your driving with a broken one?
Don't know about over there but insurance companies here will invalidate your insurance if you change the size of your wheels (rolling circumference) unless you can prove you re-calibrated the speedo. Not to mention the police might be interested. If you fit larger circumference wheels the speedo under reads. Fit smaller ones and it over reads. By default on stock wheels the speedo under reads by about 10%.

A fun piece of math and physics for you top speed masters.
According to the attached formula, what would be the theoretical top speed of a stock, 2013 FR-S with a manual transmission..?? Note ..... be sure to use estimated wheel horsepower. humfrz |

With 245/40-18 @ 7500 rpm math works out to 184 Sorry to say I didn't use your formula humfrz just used a basic program that figures tire size and gearing. Last edited by -Willis-86touge; 04-23-2017 at 04:55 PM. |
