I have both the TRD exhaust and CAI. I love the combination. As others have said, much deeper tone but not too loud. I put it on the dyno, unfortunately did not have it dyno'd stock so not sure about actual performance gains but I will say it made a noticeable difference. See the Video here: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slDSe4drTUo"]Dyno - YouTube[/ame]

It's hard to hear with the dyno noise and fans until about 38 sec's in when he gets the RPM's up....I have pictures of the new and old exhaust and intakes in my photos here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/album.php?albumid=718.

The CAI was only in 5 days before the dyno so I don't think the ECU really had time to settle in, felt a difference initially but it kept getting better for at least a week after the dyno.... The easiest way to describe the difference in the car is like driving aggressively with the AC on then again with the AC off, it's a little better than that but its close....

Dyno sheet Here:http://www.ft86club.com/forums/album.php?albumid=802

Enjoy!!

FWIW, I recently added a Perrin catted front pipe to my TRD cat-back.

I was happy with the tone and looks of the TRD cat-back exhaust but desired a little more out of it when putting the foot down than just a louder hum. I decided not to get a Perrin over pipe as well due to the fact it is just absurdly expensive for its size.

Impressions are, start up and efficient driving are justly lightly louder and slightly throatier than with the stock front pipe. But, above 3500 RPM there is this new growl that definitely was not there before. First pull after the install I had a grin ear to ear, love the sound.

Anyways, just putting it out there for anyone who feels the TRD cat-back is a little too conservative for them.

How does this video compare to the actual sound of the car with the exhaust and intake?

The piping of the system is the same diameter as stock, so don't expect power gains, you certainly won't feel it in the seat of your pants. For the price I didn't go for it. When I do start changing things out it will be for performance, and if TRD made a larger diameter or freer flowing system I'd certainly look into it. The sound is perfect.

Yea if you think about it for the $1000+ price you could actually get a full header-back exhaust system catless or catted to your liking and it would yield a more aggressive tone and from what perrin tested 13-19 whp.

Mine was definatley oiled and this post does quite a good breakdown of the intake. The instructions that come with the intake kit even reference a K&N cleaning kit that includes oil to reapply to the filter after cleaning it.

Bizarre mine is 100% not oiled and I seen no note of oiling etc. I just checked mine is certainly not oiled but thanks for heads up, I'll look into this more.

Mine is oiled as well. Not heavily oiled like the TRD air filter I got for the stock box, but it was oiled. The TRD oil is honey/yellow colored as opposed to the red/pink that K&N users are used to. The filter that comes with the TRD kit should be pre-oiled when you get it. OICU812 check yours again, and if there's no oil, you should get some on there. TRD has a cleaning/oiling kit, but you can use the easy to find K&N stuff as per the instructions that came from TRD.

Mine (for the TRD kit) was in a sealed cellophane wrapper and was very lightly oiled. But if it wasn't for the slightly oily wrapper, I would have trouble telling if it was actually oiled or not. Certainly not over-oiled like many I have seen.

I looked long and hard at getting the TRD exhaust when purchasing my FRS, but it just didn't make sense.

Same diameter piping and a $1000 price tag for something that "sounded better", when there are other well-crafted after market exhausts for nearly half as much.

I care about warranty too, but it seems like I'd rather save the 400 or so dollars and switch back to the stock exhaust should I ever need to bring the car in.

I respect TRD products, but I really don't get where they justify some of their prices.

EDIT: the piping is 2.5" that is still fairly restrictive for a $1000 aftermarket
