IDK, it was a pretty big outcry when the 240 got the KA "truck" motor here and no other option. Sorry "a lot of people." lol.

We have a MT Turbo and consider it a great grocery getter.

No blind spots, soft suspension and rides nice. Full back seat and and 3 + 1 doors lol It's good on gas too.

We are quite aware the look is a love it or hate it thing...

The turbo Veloster was on my short list actually. If not a RWD suprematist they are actually not a bad car. Seats are uncomfortable as hell though and that was what ruled it out.

This is a sophomoric approach that shouldn't have made it past an editor.

The article spends most of its' time talking about cars that are not seriously cross shopped with BRZ's by anyone other than hairdressers and hockey moms who would probably end up with a Veloster anyhow. If a person wants a BIG coupe wannabe muscle car (like an Ecotec Mustang or entry level Camaro), they buy one. Not a straw weight sports car.

Lastly, a second generation has all but been confirmed by the head of Subaru. The fate of the car is to continue to be produced. The article is crap.
Just got to send off my +1 and actually thank you for this well written reply in addition to that fun thanks button.

hmm pretty sure he was told to write up something "bad" about the car by C&D

at his old job at Edmunds.

He loved the BRZ

http://www.edmunds.com/subaru/brz/2013/road-test1.html

To Quote him:

Quote:
"Perhaps there's a lesson here. If this is all that's required to make a sports car with elegant control, engaging feedback and enlightening limits, we have only one question:

Why isn't every manufacturer doing it?"
calls it refreshing, and loved it. sounds like a huge change of tone.

from a professional point of view since we work in the same arena, even if he has more than 10 years experience over me.

At where I work, if you're an Editor and you can't write a piece or film or do things without Bias, we rotate someone else who can do it without. Thus is one reason I'm never on Camera or write about our cars twin outside the forums.

It's professional to maintain that unbiased look on the cars depending on the outfit you work for, you can have that bias like say Top Gear or Chris Harris, he's paid to like asports car more than a econ a Ferrari over a Porsche that top level is very Bias.

But for a place like me we have to review based on an unbiased everyone view, kinda like KBB for example. Value in all consumers.

this is an example of poor journalism and politics within the industry.

It's sad because it seems he's missing the point years after he wrote something that was much more genuine.

I'll show you something I just dug up from my old man's sales material that was distributed to the entire sales force from corporate back in the mid 90's.

"American automotive journalism" C&D, MT, etc all struggle to really put consumer demands, market, price point, competition, etc in the right perspectives especially when it comes to JDM cars. They either have an agenda in the back of their mind and unfairly match up cars or they are just plain stupid when it comes to practicality, performance and function with a low price point. I love how they rank the Miata at the top of the "class" when they aren't truly competing against each other...one can argue and say hey, all of these articles are really about evaluating performance without bias, fine...but we all have read plenty of hater articles about cars like the GTR getting laughed at about being not "luxurious enough"...being biased and narrow minded is too difficult for most people to overcome, they'll always miss the picture for brands they don't care about. I will admit there are some that fairly evaluate vehicles like Motorweek & KBB but they are the minority.

c&d is great entertainment, but the reviews flat out suck. They kiss the ass of bmw and honda and demean everything else. I bet this "article" was written without being anywhere near a car.

Terrible article. Ruined my day, actually. Not because I own a BRZ but because an automotive journalist can be this closed minded.

Veloster is utter shit in most aspects but the price and practicality.
