Subaru BRZ Engine extremely loud and noisy after tune

I need some advice on what I should do with my BRZ. My engine and exhaust is way too loud.

Last year, I put in the following upgrades:

Kraftwerks supercharger
Perrin catback exhaust system-unresonated
Perrin overpipe
Invidia Front pipe
Borla unequal length header

Ever since then my engine and exhaust was always extremely loud on cold start. It usually goes to 3k RPM for thirty seconds before going down idle but it’s still extremely loud.

This year I had nothing but problems with my Kraftwerks supercharger. I went through 5 broken belts. It was a nightmare. They eventually refunded me my purchase. I went ahead and swapped the supercharger with a Jackson racing system instead. I also replace my unresonated Perrin with the regular perrin resonated system.

I then took my vehicle to Moto-east in Easton to get it tuned. I told them about my cold start issues and I asked them to modify the cold start engine profile. They told me they fixed it, but the supercharger still has to come to temp. They also fixed some other issues I had when I got the supercharger swapped. Now my car is louder than before. I spent all this money doing upgrades and it’s too loud and the issue still persists and it’s louder than ever.

Does anyone know what I can do at this point to fix it so my car isn’t so loud? Should I replace my overpipe, front pipe and header back to stock? Would that fix the car being so loud on cold start and in general? I looked on videos on Youtube with other BRZs with Jackson racing systems and they don’t seem so loud as my system. Something is definitely wrong with my setup . If anyone can give me any advice on what I should do I’d greatly appreciate it. I am attaching a video of my car on cold start so you can see how loud it is.

Perhaps a quieter catback exhaust would help with the noise, stock or q300?

If the loudness that is bothersome is primarily during a cold start, have a look at this thread. The valve overlap is adjusted on cold start to help the catalytic converters to come up to temp. You don't have cats, so perhaps this could be reduced or eliminated to lower the dB?

Of course, even with the resonated Perrin, you are going to be louder across the rev range. Even small reported increases in dB correspond to relatively large changes to perceived loudness - it is measured logarithmically.

to be honest i want the car to be quieter during normal driving as well, in addition to fixing the loudness during the cold engine start. having it loud as hell was fun for the past year, but now its just annoying.

the UEL is your main culprit for noise. if you like the rumble it gives you, then go back to the stock front pipe and cat back. you might lose some power since you're using the stock front pipe with cat, but it probably won't matter much and I doubt you would feel it. if it is still too loud for you, then remove the UEL header.

thx for the advice, thats more or less what im thinking of doing. if i remove the borla unequal length header, invidia front pipe, and revert to the stock header and stock front pipe, i wonder how much quiter it would sound. what about also removing the perrin overpipe and go back to the stock overpipe, would that make any difference as well?

put in your stock front pipe and you'll be much happier.

hm interesting idea, so leave the borla header in there? and just put the front stock pipe back in? maybe i should try it, maybe i should first switch the front pipe back to stock, see how it sounds, then decide if i should change the header back to stock as well

the overpipe will have a very minimal effect on noise. the header and front pipe will make the most difference since they have cats in them that will muffle the noise pretty well. I personally would keep the UEL there since you can get some good performance from it, especially since you have a tune. if you revert back to the stock header, you might need to get your car retuned.

thx for the advice. think ill replace invidia front pipe with the stock one at first, and then see what happens and take it from there.

I've got a JDL Ultra Quiet front pipe with both a resonator and a high flow cat that really helps bring the sound down in both volume and pitch.

Subaru BRZ Engine extremely loud and noisy after tune

Get resonated everything, super charger makes things louder + the tune.

^ listen to this man with JDL resonated & carted header.

Having a good catted front pipe really quotes things down.
