Of course they're still around, they have three review issues every month: New cars, SUVs, and appliances (which rotates with electronics).

Hahaha! Consumer Reports is for people that don't know how to use Google to do their own research.

Maybe I just haven't had mine long enough yet (since May) or I got it after they worked out some of the bugs, but I haven't heard any rattling or chirping. I'm at about 5k miles now.

Either way, my problem with the review is that the reliability of the twins is being judged on things that really don't have anything to do with reliability...quality, sure. But a crappy head unit or harmless chirping isn't going to leave you stranded on the side of the road. I don't get how those things fit the reliability category.

I love my car and I'll drive it as long as I can, shortcomings and all.

Precisely, easily warrantied issues that don't leave you completely fuked are very different. Even if every 2013 car had leaky tails and was replaced under warranty, that does't make the car unreliable.

Personally I had 2 issues; leaky lights and GPS. While inconvenient to fix under warranty my car works flawlessly besides that. Now they are fixed I have no complaints.

Maybe I'll get the dreaded check engine TC light but I haven't heard much of that since launch and likely won't get that unless I start hitting the track. Then it kind of becomes a pay to play situation...

Hopefully this would make Toyota/Scion/Subaru to start recalling the twins with these minor problems and fix the DI seals.

Lol... What?

You have to pay for it because consumer reports doesn't receive money from the companies that make the product review. So somehow they have to actually pay for the products they review.

Who do you trust to give an unbiased review?

Yes because opinions on how fun a car is, is the same thing as collecting statistical data to build a failure rate analysis.

Wow.. CR is a great magazine, regardless of hate piled on it by some in this thread. I bought my Mazda P5 11 years ago based in part on CR's rating. The car has been a blast to drive and is amazingly reliable. I guess I could have ignored CR's advice at the time and bought a similar vehicle with poor ratings, and spent my money and time at the dealership.

I want to trade my car in on an FRS/BRZ, but will only do so when reliability improves a bit.

Just because the one car you bought based on their review doesn't mean that everything they put out is correct...

If you honestly feel Toyota, Scion America are going to do anything you are redefined as a Fan Boi. Subaru of America may resolve issues that ToA and SoA will just leave alone.
Take it from a person that used the state law to return my car. I am a fan boi also, just not a doormat where a dealer can wipe their crappy attitude clean.
