would just like to add

Bought mine sight unseen. Fell in love with a picture. if anyone paid attention to CR no one would buy a land rover, Mercedes or BMW as all are rated low for upkeep. I'll just buy a louder exhaust to drown out the rattles.

I do believe 86 owners have the highest percentage of whiners on any owners forum I read or am a member of. Perhaps it's age related. This is the car I never had had the ability to own for one reason or another. Vintage or new, I think this car is a cheap taste of what some "super cars" are. Perhaps the whiners have too many first-world problems?

Has anyone done any comparos of the 86 to a vintage classic?

agree fully that its a fuel pump chirping rattle trap,

consumer reports has it right,

but, long as neither of those issues will leave me sitting on the side of the road i'll make due.

I would only compare one or two classics to the 86, thankfully someone agreed with my top choice:

Had not seen that, thanks. I kick myself in the ass for not bringing one of those home from Japan way back when.

I wonder where the average poster here falls on that scale? I consider myself to be in the middle, I'm sure that will fuck with some heads. For what it was designed and built to be, it's a fuckin' awesome car.

Fuel pump will stop chirping within an hour of switching to an ethanol-free fuel.

Just an FYI, you shouldn't be guaranteeing that, it helps a lot of owners, but not all.

There are more, but I'm not feeling industrious at the moment. Mine went away over time, all E10 fuel.

Sorry.
FOR MY CAR, switching to an ethanol-free fuel stopped the chirps within an hour. 3000 miles of incessant eye-gouging chirping was stopped by simply switching fuels. For the last 2000 miles I have been savoring sweet silence.

If i had an ethanol free station within 2 hours i'd do that too.

But, I don't.

Damn. I AM sorry. I hate the idiot lawmakers who mandate such stupid things. I don't read much news so I don't know who to blame for our crap fuel. 90 octane is the highest I can get here without ethanol. I'm sorry man. :-(

No Ethanol-free fuel in New Mexico. Please understand your recommendation isn't valid for most people.

Fortunately new HPFP just released finally fixes the crickets.

i didn't know that consumer reports was still around. either way, it wouldn't have affected my decision to purchase the car in any way.
