Paint protection on black brz?

First post on the forum, hi guys!
Put the deposit down on my brz last week and i just wanted to know whether it was a good idea to get paint protection (for example opticoat) on my car.
This will be the first black car i've owned and i've been told theyre heaps of maintenance to keep clean.
Subaru has offered me $795 for paint protection on the exterior and $1395 for the whole package (interior and exterior).. Obviously i can find someone who can do it cheaper outside the dealership but i'm curious whether it's even worth to go ahead with paint protection or just stick without and put that money towards mods.

Have any of you guys got paint protection on your cars? Worth it/ not worth it?

Clear bra front end and you're good to go, always wax and a color correction once in a while.

I had opticoat on my CBS BRZ. Most definitely worth it as it will enhance the look and protection of the paint.

I remember i waxed my black RSX-S back in there at least 1-2 times a month. hard to keep a black car but once its cleaned and waxed, it's #1 sexy appearance comparing to other colors. yeah now i have white. lol

First thing, and most important thing, do not under any circumstances let the dealership do any type of detailing to the car at all. In fact put it in writing they will not touch it, then when the car arrives, take it to a respected professional detailer for opticoat, or similar coating, or if you prefer to save money simply hand wash using proper wash procedure, and purchase a good quality sealant. That price the dealer quoted is most certainly pure profit for the dealer and they are almost all hacks that will do nothing but scratch the hell out of your new cars clearcoat.

I skipped the opticoat stuff since I figured it'll get dinged up anyways on the freeway. I usually just wash very carefully and use top of the line products to protect the car. I still look back at my car every time I park and still smile every time I see it shine.

Few tips from an installer.

Don't get it done through the dealership.

Go straight to a local install shop. Better quality and customer service.

Ask for Xpel Ultimate or Suntek film. Don't waste you time with any other brand.

With clear bra you get what you pay for. So don't always go to the cheapest shop.

Ask for wrapped edges! If they say no, move to a different shop.

I would recommend getting at a minimal the front bumper and lights done. After that do a full hood. Don't waste your time with partial hood and fenders.

Thanks again everyone for the responses, big help. Now to find a local installer!
Lol also the dealership called me back asking if i wanted to go ahead with their offer for $1395, and the person i was speaking to changed her tone immediately after i told her i'm not interested - went from happy to pissed off in 2 seconds..

Make sure it is clean before the coating. My Black BRZ had water spots that were coated over. Car looked amazing in the sun. Shut the garage door and you could see the spots all over! Not sure how the dealer fixed it but they did.
