I've done the VoG about 10 times now, normal and hard. The only thing I've managed to get are the gauntlets for the hunter.

Managed to get a Fatebringer last night FINALLY. Pretty pumped.

So I got to the last quest of the Thorn quest where you have to do the Moon strike and kill enemies in the last room for 10 mins. Anyone wanna help??

I was just doing this exact same thing but solo earlier this afternoon. yeah it is a bitch! Finally FINALLY got the Thorn after staring that bounty in the face for over two months...

haha, took me about a week because I was so lazy, but once I sat down Saturday for the PvP part, I went through it in a few hours and ended up with a nice Bladedancer PvP build afterward

Also, Thorn is badass. I don't even care about a Ballerhorn anymore

Yeah I've been using it a lot and I'm loving it too. Sometimes it's hard to give up the Icebreaker but my 331dmg Thorn rips through a lot of baddies.

seems like 331 damage anything does really well... I have Up For Anything and it's pretty solid, I also just bought the Vanquisher 8 from NM and I forgot it only has a 22 round mag... Ugh.

I'd like to stop relying so much on the Icebreaker, its really limiting my weapon choices.

The problem is not you relying on the gun, the problem is crappy game design.

Almost every encounter in the game can be quickly and efficiently beat with almost zero risk by hanging back at the start of the encounter and sniping the crap out of everything with your over powered, infinity rounds sniper rifle.

Exotics also get a higher "rarity modifier" in their damage calculations versus legendary guns (0.8 exotic vs 0.6 ledendary) so your Icebreaker will also always do more damage than your legendary snipers even if they're both rated at the same damage.

These 2 factors combine to make an Icebreaker loadout almost unbeatable 90% of the time.

This is not the issue here. Most, if not all, RPGs basically compel you to do some form of farming or grinding to level. The issue is that hours of farming on Destiny can be a complete waste of time because it may not yield results. The reason being their RNG drops are horribly applied and they feel the need to place a cap on everything (vanguard/crucible marks earned weekly, bounties available daily, etc.). I would have no problem grinding if it produced results, but that's not the case. If two players grinded, one for 6 hours and the other for 30 minutes, the one who grinded less still has a chance of producing better results.

That was a big issue on Final Fantasy XIV, which is why I moved over to Destiny. Lol fuck me, right
