Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere buuuuut..... 2016 production confirmed
http://www.caradvice.com.au/266652/n...16-production/ If there isn't a manual then I'll be very disappointed. But thanks again to Toyota for forcing competitors to step up in this market and give us enthusiasts options! |

if they don't offer a manual as an option, i can't see this car doing too well.

If they release a version similar to the NISMO version, maybe with some aluminum parts to keep it light, and really focus on driving feel rather than style I would be all over this thing. Personally I think it shares some of the feel of the original 510 but does look a little bulky. Keep in mind that most 510's you see now have been modded to high heaven and the original 510 looked like the one below and Datsun had no intention of making it into a race car:
I'm curious to see where this goes and in what forms it gets released.

Nissan IDx Concept Confirmed for Production
http://jalopnik.com/nissan-confirms-...o-p-1501793053
The retro-inspired styling looks pretty different from anything currently available, and the spirit of the car seems to be in the same realm as the twins. |

Brz will be paid off long before the 2016 perspective production date. Would totally be down to buy one but the biggest caveat is only if its a stick six speed, none of that cvt garbage nissan has a hard on for. If they did a true stick with a 2 or 2.5l turbo in a NISMO platform with upgraded brakes, suspension, etc for under 35k I know I would buy.

Not enough details to be excited.
Enough to be optimistic, but not excited. I think the only way I could justify it is if it is just as good as the 86 and somehow Toyobaru really screw the pooch on reliability past 60k miles. Agreed that it needs a stick in the middle that wiggles and a serious upgrades to whatever engine Nissan puts in it. The 2.5L in the Frontier is sitting at 152 hp, almost a downgrade from the 2.4L that came in the 240sx 20 years ago (155 hp). The 1.6L that's in the Juke is 188 hp, that may do the trick depending on weight and future tweaks. |

I actually loved the old 510's....
This may be the car that motivates me to trade in the BRZ...maybe not. One thing they should consider... Put an updated SR20DET engine in it... That was a nice lightweight engine that was quick revving... Had a buddy with a Sentra with a regular SR20DE engine that he put an aftermarket turbo in...was stupidly quick. |

They would rather build this boxy crap than give us a low slung, lightweight turbocharged Silvia? Nissan is fucking stupid!

Personally I think it's ugly. Also they talked mad trash on the 86. So they better do something special with this car or they will eat those tough words.

I like the nostalgic upgrade. It looks hot but will need a good motor.

Seems like there's a high interest for this car regardless of its quirky looks? Personally, I think it's interesting and has the potential to propel the brand to the grassroots level they've missed during the last couple of years. And with anything new, people are somewhat in a state of shock, which shouldn't be a surprise really. It's human nature.
I've setup the first Nissan IDx forum to those interested in getting into the discussion http://idxclub.co/
