Is the S2000 box capable of supporting 500whp though? I'd assume since it's somewhat closely related to ours that it would immediately grenade at that level, but I have no experience or knowledge about it's durability in real life..

EDIT: I don't want to bring this thread down a rathole...just curious..

Yes. It is an extremely capable gearbox that while not bulletproof, it can absolutely handle 500 whp.

i've heard otherwise... i don't think 500whp can be reliably made with the s2000 trans... there are some guys that are pushing 450whp in turbo kswap s2000. so maybe 500whp is reliable. capable sure, reliable, that's another question. when i get this swap going when my motor blows, 4-450whp is what i'll be aiming for a TA car. 500whp is just silly in this lightweight of a car... 350whp turbo fa20 already scoots as is.

450 or 500 - it's still twice than what the 86 trans can reliably tolerate, from what I've read...

I think we are going to make 230whp with a $700 K24, but only time will tell

We have to also remember that the AP1 transmission is different than the AP2 transmission. The AP2 is the stronger option with a strengthened case, and Carbon fiber synchromesh's instead of brass.

agreed. I've been lucky at 350ish whp. I don't produce a lot of torque though with the turbo kit and it's been beaten to hell at the track the past two years. I'm quite shocked, both engine and trans hasn't gone yet since I've blown my original fa20 when that was supercharged and I was making less power.

had no idea that ap1/ap2 transmissions were different. I guess it makes sense from a v2 perspective to make something better. good to know !

Not quite done tuning yet, but we are already over 200whp and 155tq, still working on the 93 octane tune, making progress!

This was a great series. I thought I would post it here because there might be good references in the video for doing a swap. Obviously this isn't swapped into an 86, but the build is nice. The guy made like 270 whp NA on what seems to be a conservative dyno.

Just an FYI, that's a K24 bottom end with K20 head IIRC. A stock K24 head won't make as much power.

Plus, that was on e85 and a massive TB that had terrible driveability. E85 and the better sized TB was 260whp, on pump gas it would probably be in the 245-250 whp range. Still great power on all original honda OEM internla parts though.

It was clarifying for anyone thinking that a bone stock K24 on pump gas magically made 70whp more than what Pure Auto is at right now with theirs.

You mean for anyone who is going to do the swap, who didn’t watch the videos, and who doesn’t know what a stock k24 makes on pump gas. Thanks.

Clarification is needed below too. Thanks for your assistance
