Ontario Time Attack - TMP July 7th

Next event coming up next month at the Toronto Motorsport Park, commonly refered to as "TMP" or "Cayuga"

9-12 lapping
1-5 competition

an incident free day will easily net you over 50 laps, to this day we haven't had anyone that ever complained about lack of track time.

pre register before June 27th for $180, (15 extra after cutoff date or walk in)

ontariotimeattack AT gmail.com for all questions, also PM me here

if all you care about is driving your car, then we are the organization to run with. We are the safest and most organized series in Ontario. You won't find girls in short shorts and SWAG at our events, but then again you won't get hundreds of randoms snooping around your tools and car.

Organized by drivers, for drivers!

also, contrary to many myths, we are a novice friendly event. If you are a novice you will be put in a novice group during lapping you will also be supplied an instructor at no cost, and even if you're not an instructor you may ask for one to ride along, likewise you can hop in the car with almost anyone (most are nice and say yes) to learn as much as you can.

you can spend the entire first 3 hours of the day inside a car learning the line.

I've gotten a few questions about our class system and realized i never talked about it.

Our car classification is what sets us apart from some of the other events that use a more traditional car classifcation setup.

CSCS for instance has a simple breakdown of RWD/AWD/FWD with either street, superstreet or unlimited.

this effectively means that money can more or less buy you a win.

our system for car classification was originally based off the auto-cross design but revamped in 2001. We now have what is known as the liniear car classification system.

each car is assigned a starting value based on the 70/30 split of the following two variables. 1. the horsepower to weight ratio and 2. a car "handling index", which is an arbitrary variable assigned by our car classification committie to adjust for the performance potential of this or that car due to suspension and engineering design.

so a 1970 ford mustang will have a low "handling index" than a 2013 Porsche Cayman, or whatever.

So all the cars that we have in our database (which is constantly updated) receive a numerical grade out of 100. Classes are then divided by increments of 5

the following is a list of our classes from highest to lowest

open mod
modified 1
modified 2
modified 3
super grand touring 1
super grand touring 2
super grand touring 3
grand touring 1
grand touring 2
grand touring 3
grand touring 4
touring 1
touring 2
touring 3

as i mentioned previously each class is seperated by 5 points worth of car classifcation, so for any given class you are grouped together with cars with a theoretically equal performance potential as your car

the goal of this system is to eliminte the CAR and focus on the skill of the driver.

vehicle mods also have numerical point values, so the more mods you do the higher up in the classes you go. For instance coilovers are 6 points (so this would bump you up a class) a header is 3 points, etc.

one neat thing about our series is that we promote the use of high performance street tires. Anyone on street tires gets -10 points, ie they drop down TWO full classes giving them an extra edge against the competition. R-Comp tires like the RA1 are -5 points, and tires like Hooseir R6 keep you in your respective class.

So we encourage people to arrive and drive without having to carry around a second set of race wheels with race only tires.

Also, our system is generally setup to favor stock or close-to stock cars. Drivers who decide to go balls out and do all manner of mods to their cars better know what htey are doing

POOR TUNING gets penalized because unless you're Schumacher you'll have a very difficult time beating the competition.

The last 2 years our running champion has been a 2006 Mustang on OEM suspension, his only mods were Hankook RS3 tires and an aggressive alignment.

So these are just the basics, i encourage anyone interested to read our rule book:

http://www.casc.on.ca/sites/default/..._rules_net.pdf

as it contains explanations and answers to most questions

but as always, feel free to send me a PM or post here.

People are telling me that they are afraid that this is all too competitive

STOP

wrong mentality

thing of our events are highly organized lapping days with a timing portion in the afternoon.

think of it as GOLF

you don't have to WIN to have FUN
