Nothing too exciting, still waiting for some parts to come in. They keep getting delayed :annoyed:

2013/03/30

Installed new taillight gaskets last weekend. I haven't had any fogging in about 8 months, but I decided to upgrade them anyway. Big thanks to @wdninja

Old:

New:

2013/04/07

Finally got around to installing the Hotchkis sway bars that I had lying around for about a month. They were so easy to install (compared to that bitch of a CL).

The front sway mounts to the subframe braces. The easiest way to replace it is to remove the braces entirely. Its just 8 bolts (plus two for the end links) and its off the car.

It took longer to remove the splash shields then it did to replace the sway bar :tomato:

Rear, stock:

Stock (top) vs Hotchkis (bottom):

Installed:

The entire kit was pretty nice. It came with adjustable heim joint end links for the rear and machined aluminum spacers. The front bar has two stiffness settings, the rear has 4. Front is set to soft, the rear is second from soft. I may bump it up to the next hardest setting, but I need some more seat time.

During the test drive I noticed two things -

1) The suspension is definitely tighter, its slightly firmer over bumps

2) The rear end feels so much more confidence inspiring.

Sometimes, if I went into a turn wrong, the car would understeer slightly. I took it through a pretty tight bend near my house at about 50mph, punched the throttle halfway through and the rear stepped very slightly (it was very predictable), then it hooked and just went exactly where I wanted it to. I honestly didn't expect to notice a big difference, but so far I'm incredibly pleased with it.

I really need to get some camber/toe link adjusters for the rear. The driver side rear tire has a bit of camber wear, the passenger side isn't too bad. Im really impressed how long those tires lasted though, I've got about 19-20k miles on them and they look like theyve got another 5k left. Not too shabby.

Stock Front Sway: 18mm
Hotchkis Front Sway: 25.4mm

Stock Rear Sway: 14mm
Hotchkis Rear Sway: 19mm

Modifications As of 4/7/2013
- Grimmspeed license plate relocation kit

Thanks for the writeup. Not many have shown or talked about swapping the front sway bar. I swapped my rear and it was pretty easy except 1 bolt didn't thread correctly.. Tried over and over, finally just had to wrench it on. I added a second nut to the back to tighten it.

Also nice miles. Mine turns one year old next month and I only have 7500 on it. Need to go out with it more.

Nope, Id love to own one but I don't fit comfortably in them.

Mine turns 1 on May 16th too. Even after 11 months of ownership, she still puts a smile on my face every time I'm behind the wheel.

Good thing you're in VA. Otherwise it'd be awkward when I get the same wheels on my Asphalt FRS.

Haven't seen a wheel combo that looks this good on the dark grey yet! Finally sold i think

More new stuffs.

My phone can't reproduce colors the way my camera can, so thats why it may look like it doesnt match (since the seat isn't actually faded). It took about 1.5 months to get in and drilling into my center console was a bit nerve wracking. I didn't realize how much I missed not having an arm rest until I installed it. Huge thanks to @jpit for running the GB and keeping everyone up to date.

Anyway, I drove down to Atlanta last weekend for Import Alliance. I stopped by my friends place in NC Thursday night so I can ride out with them Friday morning. My car caught quite a lot of bugs.

But my friend taped his car up so he didn't have to deal with that.

And then we hit rain.

I was a zombie Friday due to 3hrs of sleep (I have no idea how my friend stayed up without any sleep), but I slept in Saturday, but got up just in time to get to the Stone Mountain AcuraZine meet - albeit late.

Then we washed the cars, grabbed dinner, and went out to another meet that got shut down within 15 mins of us getting there. Sunday came around and we got up at 630 for breakfast and to ride out to Import Alliance.

And thanks to my other friend for taking a few shots of my car at the gas station on the way there:

After hanging out at the meet for most of the day, we decided to hit the road around 5pm after grabbing lunch. The rest of the trip was pretty uneventful. I only saw two cops that weren't already preoccupied the entire weekend, which I thought was odd (but Im not complaining). I was booking it on the way home from NC Monday morning. I made it home about 30minutes faster then it took for me to get down to NC.

During the trip, I rolled 23k miles:

I averaged 29mpg the entire trip too, which wasn't bad considering I had constant speed changes due to 18 wheelers deciding to pass other 18 wheelers on a hill.

Meet pics can be found in this thread: http://acurazine.com/forums/showthre...83653&page=256

This past weekend I went to @Pure Automotive's meet, which was tons of fun. The picture thread can be found here:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34941

And this happened as well:

25k next weekend

I was telling @thejevans at Brady's meet that you have him beat, but he's pretty close to your mileage.

If I'm thinking of the right person, I believe he's got ~22k miles. I like competition though

You install your coilovers yourself? I'm trying to locate a good shop to install my springs around the Chester/colonial heights area
