Interesting, I didn't know Toyota's performance division was the one involved with fixing issues/bugs with the vehicle.

Japan has always been known for watering down the US market. Plus the US has stricter guideline safety/crash testing. So that also could have something to do with it.

No support is why I went BRZ>FRS. I get it, base model, make it my own. Fine. I can get behind that....but not without parts to do it with....../sigh. Oh Scion.

Yeah japanese automakers have a history of taking a dump on the American market. The only thing that wasnt watered down was the MKIV Supra. I blame the government

That's right. Since the "voluntary" import restriction of the early 1980's, American Automakers have worked with the US government to force Japanese automakers to "take a dump" on their US consumers. This was thought to equalize Japanese car makers with domestic ones, that were at that time total masters of taking a dump on their customers. In top secret circles it is know by the code name of the "Plymouth Horizon Protocol". The government is also directly implicated in a program to prevent importation of Japan's finest anime art and life-size love doll pillows. Note: JDM GT86 models have body pillows standard in the passenger seat.

Voice this concern to Toyota through official channels. If the market is here, they will bring the stuff to North America.

Definitely not why the parts are taking so long.

The fact is, TRD parts have to be extensively tested on production cars before getting the go ahead for sales. I've heard that they are working to ensure that the suspension parts actually improve performance before releasing them.

I'd guess we'll see some parts being released come spring.

The aftermarket has had less time with the car than TRD and they already have suspension mods....

I thought this was supposed to be Toyota bringing something sporty back into its line up?

And why would you pay TRD prices when the aftermarket has been delivering solidly for a while now?

For two reasons:

-Because if I'm spending almost $30k for a car with a 5 year warranty, I don't want to put aftermarket parts on it, with the exception of wheels.

-Also, I personally feel aftermarket upgrades make the car feel "cheap" vs OEM performance upgrades. It's personal preference and it's hard to explain.

Sure they do. But they don't have to meet the rigorous testing requirements outlined by the Toyota mothership.

Also, we should remember that few manufacturers/vendors are as open about their R&D as the select few that sponsor this site. They may have brought parts to market, but how many have proven their worth?
