dear @steve99 or @Shiv@Openflash, what about doing a UEL stage 1.5 maps for the large portion of the community with Catted UEL headers such as JDL ? where timing is halfway between stage 1 & 2 to be on the safe side ?
instead of loosing customers to ECUtek or other tunes?

YES, for sure, i am waiting on COBB for BRZ... once COBB is avail, its on, their tune was super user friendly and self-tunable AS WELL .

When the twins hit the market Vishnu dropped the BMW crowd and left us with unfinished beta maps. I hope this is not what's happening again. They produce good hardware and their tunes are by and large excellent, but their customer service leaves to be desired. As soon as Cobb cracked the BMW ecu, almost everyone jumped onto that ship.

Lesson is don't buy something if you aren't happy with how it is right at the moment.

Ehh, it's been 4 years. I'm doubtful Cobb is interested in this platform, and I don't see much room for the AP between the OFT and Ecutek price wise. It'd be awesome if they did though.

Oft is solid, great platform for 500 bucks, just requires more tuning for non off, not so "ofs"

[sQUOTE=alxtheoreo;2804241]Why don't you start with stg2 EL tune. Considering your setup from previous post, your best bet is to get it tuned via ECUTEK or something more advanced/stand alone.

The OFT UEL tunes are suited for their header & any header that matches their layout (E.G. Tomei UEL or Gruppe-S). Anything else will be off.

Mostly due to the design of the header. Take a look at the runner lengths, diameters & path.

quick question, is it more conservative to run 91 stage 2 tune on a catted UEL ? 91 is similar to 93 tune with lower timing ?

I believe so. Especially as the RPMs increase. PM Steve.

Stage 2 has AVCS tables designed for catless headers. I wouldn't run it with a catted header. 91/93 won't make a difference here.

how is such a big deal if HFC is almost like a straight pipe (maybe 3 HP difference) being treated like a 800 cell restrictive OEM CAT ?

is a HFC that much of a bid deal for Stage 2 with AVCS tables ? Really?

No... you won't see much of a power increase at wot unless you're avcs is really off. Daily driving however... you may find better throttle lips, cruising power etc

Without spending dyno time on each different header setup it wuld be difficult to get something optimum.

You can try the stage 2 catless uel maps on your jdl hi flow cat header, just check for knock, if your not getting significant knock say nothing over -1 occasionally and the IAM is solid at one then you will be fine.

the only difference between the 93 and 91 tunes is 1.5 degrees of ignition timing over about 5000 rpm so try the 91 version first then if ok and your running 93 or better give the 93 version a go.

how much more aggresive is the stage 2 OFH specific tune compared to the stage 2 off the shelf UEL tune? the reason Im asking is Im torn between getting a OFH3 or a tomei UEL header. Which tune is safer for daily driving and gives better gas mileage? also if anyone can comment on the build quality of the OFH3 compared to the tomei UEL headers that would be awesome. thanks.

I have the OFH2 and love the combo with OFT. I think if you're going for just an OTS tune for safety the OFH3 with OFT will be fine. MPG is mostly effected by your right foot lol. OFT tunes and OFH stage 2 tunes after all are tuned for their header. Tomei or JDL or any similar header will work as well. I just went with the header that best matched the tunes I will ever use which is OTS tunes.
