Notice the shift-up indicator (the little triangle) next to the gear indicator on both the 86 and BRZ. (Page 179 in the BRZ owner's manual.)

Oh yeah, I like that! It's on the Scion too, right?

Since the Scion is basically a midrange 86 I would assume so but I don't know for sure. See if you can find a video of the interior of a manual FR-S driving and post it here.

Yes. It was specifically mentioned in one of the reviews from this week. You can program it in 100rpm increments.
Autoblog IIRC.

That's NOT what we're talking about. We're talking about the shift-up indicator, not the rev indicator. The shift-up indicator is non-programmable.

Yes, the Scion FR-S has the shift indicator, as the gauge for Scion is the same (with white background) as the GT-86 in Japan.

About the video, so it seems that the miata will lose based on power when after the cornering. Once both BRZ/FR-S passed it, there is no hope for it to regain the pace.

Comparing the BRZ/FR-S, it seems that there is little difference. Although Tsuchiya won the race, he was pushing more on his 86 than Hattori was pushing the BRZ. At lap 3 Tsuchiya is drifting in many corners while Hattori is still gripping. And the way Tsuchiya passed the car in that corner after long straight is excellent, just like I would pass the cars in the GT5 game...

Yes, they are re-programmable. They can be programmed within 100rpm range. Check BRZ manual at page 196:

Size: 90.2 KB

Just to clarify: when you rev past the value set in rev indicator, the buzzer sound and the light is shown. You can disable this feature as well.

Always a fun watch with those guys. Definitely shows what I was looking for in the FR-S...a better miata with a fixed roof!
