The place I'm going to uses 3M. Based on the chart that @swarb posted (thanks for that), the solar energy rejected is 56% for CR50, and 60% for CR40. If I'm reading this right, there wouldn't be that much improvement in solar rejection by doing 35%.

Anyone else struggle with this decision? Which did you end up going with? Any regrets?

Thanks.
I have had both 35 and 40 on cars and prefer the 35. It is just a slight difference and doesn't interfere with visibility much more than 40 but from a strictly cosmetic point of view I feel that slight difference is much better looking.

@stranger things stock is already at 80% or so. I went with the 55% suntek cxp and I am happy with it. I value night vision and being able to scan behind me is needed. 80% x 55%=~44% TSER includes the darkness of the tint, so darker isn't actually much more effective, it is mostly for privacy. Tint the windshield if you want the most effective solution.

I have 35% on both of my cars. I have never noticed any visibility problems. Sitting in the car the tint is hardly noticeable.

Since tint levels are so subjective and mostly just your personal preference, only you can decide which one you'd like best. My personal preference would be the 35% in a heartbeat. I had to go 50% on my front sides due to state law (still did 5% everywhere else), but if I lived in a state that allowed 35% in the front, I wouldn't have hesitated to get that.

But if you don't like the look of darker tint, you might not want to get darker tint. Although I think the darker 35% looks noticeable and nicer from the outside, you'd be surprised how little difference there is from the inside between 35% and 50%.

Looking for some advice here - the tint shop that I spoke to uses 3M films. Price ranges from $100 to $300+. The differences are the type of film and duration of full warranty (labor + film). Here is the breakdown:

$100: 6-month warranty
$160: 3-year warranty
$200+: lifetime warranty (including labor but only applies to that specific shop)

3M film (even the most basic type) should be decent quality and last 10+ years, right? Have you had professionally installed tint failed within 10 years? Which option would you pick?

Just ordered some Llumar Ceramic tint and I'm going to attempt doing the job myself for the first time. Been watching a lot of videos and ordered tools as well. Feeling confident about the venture. Has anyone else done a tint job themselves?

35%, VersionEx Autobody here in Eugene.

Aesthetically I wish I had done 25% or so. Legal 35% because I have a job that doesn't play well with tickets.

Anyone here have to go back to get a window or two redone? I just got my car tinted with Huper Optik Ceramic 30% and my drivers side door front quarter window has a piece of sand stuck in a bubble. It's not major but it's on the drivers side and I can't stop noticing it. My passenger side rear quarter window has a bubble with a piece of lint in it, hoping it is less noticeable once all the tint bubbles disappear in the next couple of weeks.

Tint Brand: Hüper Optik Ceramic
Tint %: 30%
Shop Name: Precision Tint and Design
Cost: $375

Custom Grey Tint that is like a factory tint that is embedded in the window. No need to worry about it coming off or anything like that. Isn't too dark which is great for states like Michigan that have tint laws and also allows you to use film tint to get even darker. Also had a lot of scratching on my door glass from the window guides so it was nice to have a full replacement glass.

Window Brand: Brads Auto Glass
Tint % 35 on the door glass and 20% film on the back
Website: https://bradsautoglass.com/fr-s/
Cost: $260 Shipped for the custom tinted door glass
