Well... turns out to be safe from having to do this again down the line, I'm going to cut a little bit more above the arcs. No biggie... good thing I didn't get to weld yet though...
Also, I became aware of required cuts I have to make to the front bumper. It should not affect any of my preconceived plans for the front bumper... actually it pretty much guarantees I'll be molding the entire front bumper.... that's going to be fun! More to come soon... __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |

It sucks having so little time to tackle this install the way I want to... Anyways, I'll just have to do what I can with the time that I have...
Today I only marked my adjustments and the cuts on my front bumper. I'm raising my rear quarter cuts by 3/4". Hopefully I'll get to cutting on Friday. __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |

Why do you need to cut the front bumper at all?

Wheel and tire clearance... Wider wheels and tires will rub at that point if not cut.
Bumper caps are dual function... they extend to meet the wider fenders but they also create the required clearance at that point. __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |

So today I found enough time to cut a bit more from the driver side rear quarter arc. I was also able to prepare it to be welded... whenever that happens...
Tomorrow or Friday I'll try to finish the passenger side rear quarter... then I'll need to cut the front and rear bumpers. Once everything is welded I'll begin my fiberglass work on the wheels arcs. __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |

I finished up my rear quarters minus tack welding... I also cut my front bumper.
Tomorrow I'll cut the rear bumper. Almost done with my provisions! __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |

Okay... so all my cuts are done...I'm still waiting on the tack welding though. Once I get that done I'll start test fitting everything before securing them in place.
I'll be ordering my body work supplies real soon. __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix Last edited by zeal86; 01-14-2018 at 07:37 PM. |

I got tired of waiting so I borrowed a Lincoln Electronics MIG welder. I practiced on some spare metal and went to town. I have never welded before today. I was putting down some killer tack welds... Kidding... I would consider what I did ugly as fuck...lol but it held. At least I'm moving forward with this wide body install!
I'm going over the whole area with short hair body filler then fiberglass and resin. I still need to clean up what I did on the driver side then weld the passenger side. Maybe I'll post pics tomorrow... lol __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |

I practiced some more welding yesterday. I bought a smaller gauge wire and played around with my settings untill I was hearing that bacon sizzling sound. I already re-prepped my area to put down some tacks I could be more proud of... lol
Should be back on the project Friday or Saturday! __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |
