I saw someone getting a JDL turbo kit done at PRT when they tuned my car and I think they've done the Edelbrock kit.

If I were going FI, I'd go with a supercharger (Edelbrock, Jackson Racing, or Harrop). All the turbo setups struggle with heat issues and seem to be super sensitive to issues. If you aren't comfortable diagnosing and fixing a bunch of stuff, the supercharger kits are much more reliable and they deal with heat and track duty better.

If you are a drag person or a stop light cruiser, the turbo setups can make more power and cooler noises.

Just ordered my short block. I’m going to end up going turbo, just for fun street driving aspect. Steve at PRT is going to the install.

Hello all,

Where to weigh my car in North suburbs? Other than a garbage dump.

Hey guys.

I’ve never driven in a forced induction car..is there anyone around that can give me a ride? I can give you some cash in exchange. I would like to see the difference in feeling of a turbo and supercharger.

Where is the best place to get tires mounted & balanced in DFW? Preferably North of Dallas.
245/40 on a 17x9.

A place that won't fuck up the rim and knows how to balance correctly?
Looking for experienced opinions, maybe even someone with an 86 that works in a tire shop willing to do it at their shop?

I work at Toyota of Rockwall and I trust the techs to do all of the maintenance on my 86.

Most of the historical stuff is Ft Worth and that's focused on Cowtown and cowboy stuff.

Some people like going to the the "Monkey Garage" and/or their bar or music venue (they've got events pretty regularly), there are annual Car Shows throughout the area, but I'm not aware of old-ass buildings (they get replaced around here).

There aren't any old race tracks in DFW that I'm aware of and the majority of the dealerships are modern and active (the older stuff is usually out in the boonies, and you get more of it to the South between Austin and Houston).

There are a couple of cool Flight Museums in the area that would make a good day trip and probably have some photo opportunities (Cavanaugh Flight Museum or the Vintage Flying Museum).
There is 1 former F1 circuit and two other trans am circuits in Dallas but there's pretty much no trace of them due to their locations (Fair park, addison and Reunion arena area) Apperently Fair park street circuit was a dangerously poor and bumpy surface

I think the addison circuit was at the airport...

Reasonably priced (and honest) performance shops in/near Plano/Dallas

Hey guys, Mike here in Frisco TX. I work in Plano.

Now a proud owner of a 19’ BRZ (used to have a 13’ FR-S, then a WRX most recently and came back to the 86 for the love of the car)

I ha e used Cobb (now Growler) Buy was open to any other reasonably priced but honest/trustworthy performance shops that could do work on the car in or around Plano/Dallas. My next step is to get a full cat back exhaust with maybe a catless (resonated or not haven’t decided yet) first. Then maybe some springs.

Any referrals or info would be greatly appreciated!

Check out PRT Performance in Lewisville. They are very familiar with this platform and have done quite a few turbo/supercharger installs.

Just wanted to stop in a say hi to everyone. New to Dallas, TX and just bought a BRZ Limited as well. Very excited to add some bolt-ons, learn about the platform, and plan on FI. Even spoke to Steve at PRT for a bit.

Hey guys/girls, own a '13 FRS since new and now at ~75k miles. Judging from what I've read on TSB threads about the TOB squeeling/squeeking, I think my FRS is a victim of it (for about 2 months). Any reputable mechanics and shops who've done this repair with the newer part and can do this easily in Fort Worth? Thanks!
