It isn't the octane... it's the ethanol... I use the cheapest 91 octane gas here and after almost 2700 mile I have no crickets... non of the guys here have crickets and some are already at 16K miles

Haha I have read this build thread every time it gets updated

and I just know people in my area get crickets, I suggest they switch gas, show them where I get mine, explain my total lack of crickets (which I once I had from Shell V power and some Esso stations and no longer have thanks to 91 and 94 options in town)

It is not the ethanol. I use E85 and have LESS crickets with it than Shell 93 Oct.

The crickets sound are more audible or less audible depending on the lubricant additives each gasoline has. It has already been discussed the noise is a close tolerance between moving components on the pump. The only thing that can alleviate that noise is lubrication.

Maybe E10 has less lubrication than E85... but the general consensus is that people switch from E10 to non Ethanol gas, the crickets disappear.

General consensus also says crickets go crazy loud when you go E85 because ethanol has way less lubrication than 93 pumpgas so again, its not the ethanol content, but the additives (that might help lubricate the DI pump internals) in the fuel each of us uses.

/end thread derail

Like I've said many times, this Series 10 TRD is a thing of beauty
