Microbypass and Pioneer AVHX5500-BHS

I just installed this HU with the Microbypass I bought from Amazon. I installed it per the instructions and it works fine for the video. I can watch video with the E-brake disengaged. The problem I'm having is that some of the other HU functions are still not available. I cannot access the auto EQ feature nor the AppRadio function. Anybody else with this combination have the same issues? Thinking of just removing the bypass since I don't really need to watch video while driving and would rather have the other functions. If I do this though Pioneer manual says to attach green E-brake wire to positive side of switch. I only see negative wire coming off switch at E-brake. Anyone know which wire to tap into? Can I access this at the drive side kick panel?

The headunit is probably disabling these functions because of the vehicle speed sensor wire feeding, well, vehicle speed information into it. So while the ebrake may very well be engaged, the car is still in motion, so the HU turns off access.

Why the video is working, though, is a weird one.

Pioneer unit doesn't have a speed sensor. If you can watch video while moving/without the parking brake wire connected, it's working. Auto EQ requires the special pioneer tuning microphone to be plugged in. App radio I believe requires a special wire to work.

I have the microphone for the Auto EQ but the button stays greyed out when the microphone is plugged in. AppRadio just requires phone to be connected through the USB and running the AppRadio app but same thing. The App button stays greyed out. Will these work if I just ground the green wire from the HU?

Your wiring should not be effecting either of these.

For auto EQ, make sure the audio source is OFF and the CD-MC20 is plugged into the aux cable. Should work then regardless of ebrake/VIM or anything else.

What phone are you running? There are different cables for different phones. If you have an iphone 4 or 4s you need the CD-IU201S for app radio mode. If you are using the IU201V that will only do music and video.

If you have an Iphone 5 you need the CD-IV203 & CD-IU52 for app radio mode.

If you have an android app radio mode will not work however with a select few android phones you can get the CD-ML100 and use mirror link.

Source: I sell and install a hell of a lot of Pioneer.

Thanks for the info! I am using an iPhone 4. Will try the Auto EQ again with the audio off.

I removed the Microbypass and AutoEQ function works. AppMode still not working but I think I need a special cable like @Flat Black VW mentioned. Might try that later.

A rocker switch is a simple solution to this issue long term.

Thats how we normally do it at my shop, just a simple toggle switch to trick the radio.

if you want to get fancy, (I did b/c im a geek..) you can wire a rocker switch with an led to a relay that grounds the brake sensor when the led is powered.
