Exclamation Thrust Bearing Going Out

So every time I let my clutch out, I hear a noise. The only thing I can compare the sound to is a Waist Gate or a damn Chipmunk. Im only @ 9,000 miles! Something is not right!!!!!!!!!!!!! No slipping yet, but N.F.G.

I am guessing you mean throwout bearing, and I have never heard one sound like a wastegate, and I have never heard a chimpmunk sound like a wastegate either.

You sure you aren't hearing the well documented air conditioning clutch kick on? It can be quite noisy at times and makes a noise just like you are describing.

I had this *tink* sound on my old impreza. Maybe it's a Subaru thing.

My 2000 Impreza has the clutch squeak. It's either the clutch fork or one of the cylinders. Just needs some lube.

I would assume this is yet another Subaru quirk that has been carried over.

Just got back from doing some testing to see when it'll *tink*.. And it'll do it in just about any gear, breaking, accelerating, when I let out the clutch. Going straight and turning. I notice the noise will sometime be on the left or right side of the car, with both windows down I can notice which side it comes from.

Sometimes its just 1 high pitched *tink* sometimes it tinks back to back very fast up to 3 times. Interesting how it will just do it on its own under pretty much any driving condition.

Put a rather large screwdriver behind your crank pulley and pry, if the thrust bearing is going out the crank will move back and forth.

That being said engines with bad or missing thrust bearings don't last 9k miles normally.

Um I'm sorry that's such horrible advice, don't pry anything. If you are really concerned take it to the dealer its what warranty is for. Or you can pull the inspection cover. Come on man don't pry your pulley really....

She's stiff as a goose. I tried yanking out the motor too, that was pretty stiff as well. So.. i'll try the flux capacitor next and then check the blinker fluid.

Yes Throw Out!

Ok, so there is No *Tink* Nothing metal sounding about it. When I said wastegate, I was referring more towards the air pattern. No Tink. Open Link. Go to the 16th Second. Exactly the 16 Second! Turn up the Volume. Press Play and Listen.
[ame]http://youtu.be/GR8Rw8jFHy4[/ame]

Its Very Fast. Seconds 16-18! That's what Im hearing.

Just been way to hard on it. Im a very aggressive driver. Drift it a bit "every day I can". lol When im having Fun an Down Shifting through turns, I don't match RPMs. I slam it an let that a$$ slide an scream.
