I get it from the link in Tokay444's post. http://www.gencoupe.com/general-disc...upe-sucks.html My point being, it's the same sort of unsubstantiated bitchfest you read on this forum, not a rip on the Gen Coupes. Personally, I think Hyundai/Kia are doing a bang-up job in the car market. They're selling cars that have excellent reliability and quality ratings, and doing it smartly, maximizing shareholder profits. Niche cars like our twins don't do that. The Genesis Coupes are far more popular amongst the general car buying population than our cars are because they are LESS focussed than the twins are, and they contain the amenities (usually considered frivolous to hardcore sportscar people) that generate both superior sales and profit margins. Add to that solid reliability numbers and you get the world's 3rd biggest auto manufacturer, and growing.

My list of noisy cars is extensive but I can narrow it down to the worst being those with full steel dashes. You ain't heard rattles until you have driven a car from the 50s with an interior that is 80% metal.

And you wouldn't take a GT350R over an FRS? #trollingconfirmed

you cannot make this comparison the 488 does not have a torque converter so its completely different.

I test drove the Gen Coupe before I bought my BRZ. It felt good, had the leather interior and the Brembos and all that so I was about to drop cash on it but something felt off so I started reading about reliability and found over 100 pages of people complaining about grinding gears in the 6MT, most were 100% stock and some other reported reliability issues really turned me off. I started reading about other cars in the same price bracket and at the time I lived next to a Subaru dealer and they had what would later become my BRZ sitting on their lot. I test drove it and loved it immediately and 2 months later, it was mine. The BRZ was much tighter, had better visibility, driver feel and response and didn't have any serious known reliability issues. I don't regret my decision at all.
Relevant: At my last track day, I was on track with a completely stock track spec V6 Gen Coupe that the owner was giving his first shakedown in. He had just bought the car the week before as his dedicated track car and this was his first time on track with it, still had the OEM tires on it. Anyways, I chased him for several laps and it was a lot of work to keep up with him. He left me on the straights but I'd catch him in the corners although he wasn't slow in the corners, like I said, I had to push really hard to keep up with him. They're very quick cars even 100% stock but credit to the BRZ, I was able to keep pace with him overall although I'm modified for handling. |

If someone wants to say "torque converters suck ass" then I can entertain that notion (and am okay with the general premise), otherwise blanket statements are responded with blanket responses. |
