I can't be sure, but I am sure that you just made many Supra fans happy.
Happy enough that they must now change pants.

I could see both cars sharing interior pieces. At this point, we are mostly certain the only differentiating factor between the 2 cars may be their engines and sheet metal. That would make sense for cost savings.

3.0 inline by Toyota/Yamaha is what I would like to hear.

Well with different engine options across the BMW and Toyota line up. It seems like the chances could be higher. An inline 6 BMW engine with d4s would create a pretty potent mix even without the involment of Yamaha

For some reason, that one makes me think of an RX-8 with a body kit.

If it had a potent engine and drivetrain, I would buy the original concept on the front page; 10% larger, 21" wheels, and everything. That's still the most attractive version to me.

This was posted on the Supra forums

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...php?p=20074018

"...BMW and Toyota will offer different designs. The BMW launches first as a Roadster whilst the Toyota comes as a Coupe. Then vice versa.

You cannot really see much as they have cleverly and intentionally applied paneled camouflage to the bodywork to disguise every single line and detail. But it is an incredible looking car developed from the design of the Vision ConnectedDrive and 328 Hommage Concept cars. But larger and more stretched.

The Z5 will utilize a Carbon Core which will be highly advanced for its segment.

The Z5 is to spear BMWs revitalized sports car programme to adhere to a unique philosophy similar to BMWi but for the Sports Car and Performance segment specializing in lightweight materials , advanced construction, individual design and dynamics. Engines will start from a unique four cylinder to a potentially powerful Power eDrive model with up to 500 PS and eBoost which was used under the body of the CSL Hommage/R."

I just wish they'd kept the 5 GT under camo. I hate having to look at that thing.

New Toyota Supra and BMW Z5 gear up for 2018 assault

Quote:

Kicking off the line-up is a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine in two price-leading rear-drive models. The same as the engine used by the IS200. A more highly tuned variant with close to 300bhp is also under development and due to be offered from the outset of sales, according to sources at Toyota’s R&D centre in Nagoya, Japan.

A newly developed twinturbo 3.5-litre V6 petrol unit, which will be shared with various Lexus models over the longer term, will be the performance flagship of the new line-up. It will deliver more than 400bhp in a rear-wheeldrive version of the Supra. This range-topper will be the most powerful Supra to date and have an expected 0-62mph time of less than 4.0sec and a governed 155mph top speed.

The four-wheel-drive hybrid version of the new Supra is expected to run a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine in combination with an electric motor housed within a ZF-engineered eightspeed automatic gearbox, delivering upwards of 350bhp.

4-wheel-drive hybrid Supra.

I never thought I would say those words...

This car doesn't sound cheap, regardless of which powertrain you choose.

As if they are merging the old Celica back into the Supra.
