I'm told that Nacimiento-Fergusson is a road that was built by the army during the second world war to train truck drivers to drive a similarly-treacherous road that connected Burma to China. After this treat, we spent some boring time on the 101, hopped off at highway 166, drove further inland for a bit and then drove Tepusquet Road and Foxen Canyon down into Los Olivos. Then we took highway 154 back to Santa Barbara.

It was an awesome 26 hours!
I am so jealous! This is definitely on my bucket list.

Make sure you installed it properly and everything's sealed up and the filter is facing the right direction. There's definitely a difference in sound, especially after you delete the sound tube/resonator as I have done. An intake filter is not going to work wonders but it's proven to make some small, small gains especially when combined with the snorkel mod.

Can't go wrong for $35 I paid

Awesome! Where'd you get the resonator from/installed?

I realized that the Perrin 2.5" was bothering me because I thought it was loud. However, when I poke my head out and rev, the sound is totally different since it's not vibrating through the whole car. It's a nice deep sound but the low tones can get on my nerves on the highway, especially on a very low gradual incline.

Check out the Grimmspeed intake testing thread. They tested a lot of the popular intake system for FRS/BRZ.

K&N drop in filter gives you 5 WHP for $40.

It's normal to not be able to notice 5 WHP, but it's there.

The power bang for the buck wise, it's super awesome I would say.

Personally I would not waste my money on the K&N. I purchased this and there is absolutely no gain feel as far as from a drivers point of view. Although you can claim 5whp, you don't notice it at all. Although, I'v now swapped with the Perrin BigMaf Intake my opinion can be bias, but holding out for a true intake instead of just a drop in will leave you more satisfied. Again, I literally had the K&N for about 2 weeks and decided to part ways.

Can't believe some of you are complaining about $40 drop in filter that gives you 5WHP.

If you truly want to feel the power gain, don't go for the intake. Go for header/front/overpipe and tune.

How is the K&N a waste of money? I have had it installed for 5 months now and was able to notice a difference immediatley. Now that difference was a small difference, but it was still a difference. I wasn't expecting an unrealistic hp gain from just a drop in. Before my purchase I had researched like @JS + BRZ and seen that the "true intakes" you are waiting for made less/same diference in hp gains. So why would you spend over $300 for a gain you can get for around $40?

Finally installed the Advan-Emotion knock off rear diffuser:

Balances out nicely with the STI gurney flap and Nameless 2.5" 5" axleback.

My fault, let me explain my reasoning. K&N drop in filter was one of the first mods I did. However, since I was planning plenty of tunes down the road i.e. overripe, front pipe, exhaust, cranks and tune, the filter to me was a waste of money. Therefore, if you plan to keep your ride more or less stock and not plan to upgrade your intake, then a $40 investment sounds reasonable.

yes, I did. But I didn't feel much of a difference until i swapped with an intake + tune.

On a side note, my two week used K&N is for sale $30 shipped (PM me)
