i did run a few tanks of shell gas before that whenever i could (my usual is chevron), but i've been back to chevron the last couple fill ups.

so not sure what made mine stop also after 7,500~8,000 miles.
maybe the crickets get tired of chirping after 8,000 miles and go home.
or maybe the chirping washer or whatever has worn off the offending area so now moves more freely??
Good to know that I'm not the only one. My first oil change was at 7000 miles. Crickets went away at 8000, so I was thinking it's not related to the oil change, but who knows.

definitely not the oil change, i got 1st oil change back at ~2,500 miles?

i'm just glad i did not get the high pressure fuel pump replaced when the dealer mentioned that potential fix when i mentioned crickets during the 2nd oil change.
i wanted to monitor further since noise was not affecting anything else about the engine.:happy0180:

I hate to be a negative nancy but the chirps will likely come back in the next couple of weeks...the forecast says its going to be much warmer soon...

Exactly. I got the supposedly brand new part, but of course... The minute it gets warm, boom. Chirp. I honestly don't care at all. It comes and goes now, but I don't pay attention anymore. If it was like a VW hpfp, then if be concerned because those fail and destroy things.

yeah I got the cricket stuck under my hood as well. I took it in for warranty twice before i found this forum. first time they changed the tentioner and belt then when i took it back the mechanic said it sounds like the fuel pump and that's just the way it sounds. to be honest he just didn't know. no one at toyota has ever seen that engine before. at least its not only my car lol. I hope they come up with a fix for us.

That is the one thing that's got me reserved, but I will say that I've seen a few days in the high 80's here in sunny SoCal and still nothing. The only thing I can attribute this to is my change of filling stations as now I strictly use Shell. I guess this summer will be revealing.

I only use E0 pumps now but when I still was putting ethanol in my tank I was also using shell.

One thing that annoyed me was that the pump nozzles didn't totally fit up to the FRS fuel port and wouldn't catch themselves when the tank was full.

First two times filling up at shell ended in me being sprayed down with gas.

Took my car in for service for the chirp. For some reason it's taking longer than a day? (brought it in Tuesday 6pm and won't get it back till Thursday). It says its a 2.5h job so not really sure what the deal is.

did they order the part ahead of time? If not, they're probably waiting for it to show up.

...and in the meantime some porter or tech will be keeping your car company by redlining her while doing donuts and drifting around parking lots...
