The FRS in practice isn't very fast, but because of it's small size and low slung center, and the exhaust note, it definitely feels quick. The last car I had that was as much fun as the FRS was an 05 GTO M6. A relatively small car with a 6 liter small block 8 and 400 fp torque stock and a manual is a blast, but not as precise or tight as the Scion.

I'd be embarrassed to race someone in this car. Although the noise alone might scare them.

What I love is how much fun it is just tooling around. Open the windows to can the road noise and rest your arm on the nice, wide padded sill..

I don't get the whole "a V6 Camry is faster" complaint. Well, why is anyone surprised? It has two extra cylinders, additional HP, and can be equipped with a "sports" transmission, but also costs almost $5K more than a base FR-S (about the cost of adding a turbo)

Heck if I bought the Camry and it was slower in a straight line, I'd be pissed. Still, I'd rather be driving the FR-S.

It's like saying the Cadillac CTS-V wagon shouldn't be faster just because its a station wagon (technically a crossover). Its not taking the entire configuration into the picture.

My response is, for a 4 cylinder car that averages 32MPG over 40K miles, yea, I'd say its pretty doggone fast.

I say it's not super fast, but just enough... I'm not going to knock my purchase decision. I did a lot of research on the car and wanted it for a long time before purchasing it. It is by far the funnest vehicle I've ever owned.. Both fast and slow..

I scrunch up my nose and say it's not fast, but it's quick.

Have we been trolled? Most cars with "slow" on the back... aren't.

Funny...
My wife's 65 year old aunt asked me this the other day... "Is it fast?"
I wasn't sure what to say... So I said, "Its not bad... But its not super fast.." Then my wife *sighed* and said.. "Its fast if you drive it fast"

She was right.

Easiest response is " depends on the road"

What I do find hilarious at track weekends are the guys who walk by early on day 1 and chuckle at the car while they are "sizing up the competition". Invariably they are back again later with an entirely different attitude.

I've had my FR-S for 11 weeks now and I get that "is it fast" question 3-4 times a week. My response is; "it's not fast, but it's a really quick car"

The 86 is a sporty car. Sporty cars are supposed to be fast(not my personal opinion). You could spend the same amount of money and get a Focus ST which is still faster than a Camry and only has 4 cylinders. In fact, the BRZ/FRS is probably the slowest sporty car in its price range aside from the Miata.
