interior rear-view mirror tweak
MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH, LANDMARK DISCOVERY, ATTENTION EVERYONE
I simply tilted our mirror in the "as delivered position" to suit myself, but today, (after six weeks) I noticed it is double jointed ie you can raise and lower it too. I tried it up near the roof lining and like it much better. Not only is it up out of the way for better forward vision but also I seem to get a few more degrees wider vision rearwards. Although the centre of gravity is raised the effect on handling is minimal. ;-) Last edited by notout86; 05-17-2013 at 09:45 PM. |

I Did The Same Thing Before I Let The Dealer.
Note: At Night, If You Switch The Regular Mirror To Anti Glare Mode, It Will Reflect The Cabin Map Light Because It Is So Close To It. The Dim Mirror Will Not Do That. I Drove With The Regular Mirror For Two Weeks And Was A Bit Annoyed.

Oh wow! I just set my mirror all the way at the top. WAY better! Also, I have a convex mirror clip on and now I can see through the small triangular mirrors in the back.

Do you mean you can now see through the small triangular WINDOWS at the back or have you installed mirrors on the back shelf? If you have mirrors, please tell us about them. I found it difficult/impossible to look along the road if I backed out from angle parking when there was another vehicle alongside. I had to back out about 2 meters to see if someone was coming. Now I have a small slightly convex mirror on the shelf which helps a bit but doesn't really go back to the base of the rear window. |

This...
I use the long convex mirror. I got mine a pepboys. There was a short one but I went with long one which measures 30cm. Surprisingly, the mirror doesn't effect the swing of the visors. These cars got some really short visors . As far as the viewing angle goes, I can see the top of my head in the mirror. Thanks to your tip, I can now see over the top of my head just enough to get a glimpse through the small side windows in the back seat. It's not much but every little bit helps. For my side mirrors, I have those set far out. I have to lean a little bit to see the side of my car. This lessens the blind spot a lot too. That's pretty much it. I still have to give a quick head turn when changing lanes and backing out of parking spaces still sucks but I can live with it. |

I recommend the T1R mirrors for the side blind spots they're fantastic, kinda pricey but worth every penny imo

with my r/v mirror set up high ie nearer the head lining , my vertical field of view is greater. Last night I saw a flying saucer that I would have otherwise missed.

A few years ago I had to have the windshield replaced in my Jeep. After driving it around a bit, I was feeling annoyed with the mirror and realized it was much lower on the new windshield than on the original. I took it back and complained, thinking the guy had somehow managed to put the mirror on incorrectly. The poor guy I accused of screwing it up reached in and adjusted it upward for me. I felt like a total tool. I tried that when I first got the car, but quickly discovered that the headlights of cars behind me reflect off the dome light cover into the mirror so that there are horrible double reflections. It was really annoying, so I had to put it back. |

I went down and checked. It does move up and down and it seems like it might even slide off entirely.
