Ooof. People, chill.

So it's potentially one of the smallest and least problematic recalls in history... The PCV valve looks like a $.50 part and is replaced easily.

I'll reserve judgement until the scope of the issue is learned. Or it will never get reported on again because "200,000 engines may need replaced" is a grabbier than "problem easily addressed by techs in under 15 minutes."

The valve spring recall said that no whole engines would need to be replaced. We know how that went.


In their defense it is not at all unusual for several recalls to occur on first run new models. The 17 Impreza and the 18 Crosstreks are first year models on the new platform and issues can be expected. There is no amount (of affordable) testing that can identify every single possible failure point before the cars hit the street.
