Here's a weird one...noise hours after turning off

I went to put some stuff in trunk for work tomorrow and heard a sound like a generator running outside. I opened the garage and didn't see anything...I poked around and the sound was coming from the back of the car and was a hum or fast clicking. I turned the key to "on" and shut it off and the noise stopped. The car had been sitting for about 10 hours...wtf was it?

Hum, read the manual? I believ that was the exhaust leak something or other check. Manual says it happens hours after the car is shut off.

Yeah, it must be the Evaporative pump that was checking the system.

Evap pump.

They run to test leaks after a certain length drive cycle followed by a certain length with the car off.

I cannot understand why someone would spend $25,000 on a complex machine and not read the owners manual?

I haven't read mine yet. Does it say anything about driving near McLarens or office buildings?
