Torklift Central Ecohitch for BRZ/FRS!

Hello all, a while back Kask2.0 was making concealed hitches for the BRZ/FRS/GT86 and I was lucky enough to get one before he and the thread disappeared.

But! It appears Torklift just created one that is strikingly similar and equally hidden hitch adapter! I found it while looking up hitches for my Impreza and figured to sign in and share.

I am living vicariously through all of you since I had to sell my BRZ.

Below is a picture from Kask2.0's unit if you want to compare notes.

Does anyone have any experience with this hitch? Looks like it hides away well, just a tad more expensive than the uhaul one.

I did not have torq's hitch, the one I had was very similar. It can be used to tow small trailers <1000lbs. I used it for a bike carrier and it worked quite well. My only complaint if there was too much weight on the hitch it would rest on the stock exhaust and resonate so I took a hammer to it and made the room needed.

I believe torqlift fixed that problem with theirs but I would contact their support to be sure. if you have a smaller muffler in the back you are good.

the hitch completely disappears since you can physically remove it. That is a great selling point for those of us that like a clean butt

I'm considering this one for my FR-S. I have an Ecohitch on my Rav4 and had one on my Prius v. They are very well made and fitment is excellent. I'm not too crazy about having to take my rear bumper off or the fact that I'll be adding 30 to 50 lbs to the rear of the vehicle permanently. This or the tow bar rack... decisions, decisions.

Not a problem for me. TRD exhaust is the only non stock item I have back there.

If you know a quality metal/custom shop you can have them make you just the drop down adapter. bring them the original for template and leave with an additional for the difference in drop height.

Listed for up to 2015 models. Before I buy one, can anyone think of why this wouldn't work on 2016 models?

Only thing I can think of is if they attach the bumper to the car using different bolt pattern. Or if the exhaust muffler sits further rear than previous years.

Only other thing you may need to do is trim the bottom of the bumper for the hitch to drop through. (I trimmed mine just to make it easier to take on and off but didnt have to)

Have you asked Torklift about 2016? They're nice folks. I have one of these on my 2013 and it's great.

I want this hitch, but I don't understand why it's so expensive compared to the alternatives. I have a curt now but I don't like being able to see it.

They are very well crafted and look nicer than others. Also they seem to be made with better materials. I had a generic hitch on my Impreza and got their hidden hitch for it. Theirs weighed twice as much and the flanges were twice as think (full disclosure: the torklift hitch was rated 350/3500 and the generic I had was rated 200/2000).

The biggest selling point is that it is not visible, that is why it is so much more money. They are the only place that makes them like that (from what I found when I had my BRZ).

My son and I installed one earlier today in about 1.5 hours on my stock '14 BRZ premium (I mostly just watched). The job was easier than expected: pop off about 6 plastic pop rivets (I bought a couple of special tools to make that easier) and two screws, remove the bumper cover, unbolt the 4 bolts and 2 nuts that hold the bumper on, hang the hitch on the two protruding studs, put the bumper back on and install with the provided bolts, torque, put the bumper cover back on. Everything fit, no drilling, bending, filing or snaking nuts through the chassis. I got mine with the removable 2" receiver and it's a beast.
