Yup, I've done that Also, check the screws in the latch mechanism! They can get loose and cause major rattling.

I had two rattles...
  1. The latch hook did not provide a tight fit & the front of the HT would move around.
  2. The hardtop lock rattled (forgot which vendor the locks are from).

Here in BC, summers are really humid so its no picnic. I avoid the summer sun from 10am to 6pm. Once 6/7pm hits, I'm thinking it'll be time to drive the car in the sun until our sunset which is 9/10 (sometimes even 11pm).

I'd love to see that black/yellow interior. Is that the CR interior? If it is, TBH, I am not a fan. but if its a bright yellow/black interior then I'm all for it! HAHHA.

Not a fan of the CR interior - just looked it up right now.

THANKS! Congratulate me when the car is in my hands and I'm sure I'll be here to tell you that I got it and will post pictures once the repairs are done and a full car detail - polish and wax is complete.

I'm not toooooo concerned in regards to the rattle. I test drove the car and was already all smiles when shifting the car. I used to drive manual cars when I was 18 (it was a kia pride - also known as a ford festiva! LOL) and I miss it! I missed it so much that whenever my friends offered to let me drive their stick shift cars, I would be the first in the driver's seat. LOL. I HATE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.

Check all the screws as previously mentioned. I've seen them back out on quite a few CRs.

I've tried virtually everything... my latches have all the gaps filled with rubber foam to reduce play to virtually nothing, and the bathtub liner fix the rattle!

This is interesting... New convertible fr-s vs. s2000. I still think that the long hood is sexy on the s2000.

Its here! I am already thinking of the important things I need to do for the car.

1) Full Maintenance on the car - CMC leak, and flush of all fluids, etc...

2) Full Pain correction in April/May (My first time to learn how to do paint correction - gotta budget for this)

Copied & pasted from s2ki...

Drove the FR-S today, I've only driven the BRZ prior. The car felt spot on - terrific handling, great shifter for a non-s2k, & great seats / position. Awesome car! My only real complaint is the looks of both the FR-S & BRZ. The proportions remind me of an RSX. It bothers me to a point where it's becoming a deal breaker.

Edit: In addition... I installed JRZ RS Pro on my CR yesterday. Along with the JRZ's the car has a Gendron front sway bar with ball bearing mounts. I have to say... the FR-S handles better & it is more responsive to inputs than my CR. Granted, I didn't get a chance to align, corner balance, & put the shocks in a proper shake down. The FR-S is a better handling car.. say what!?!

Wow. So this has probably been covered already, but to compare the S2000 to the FR-S is like comparing a Corvette to a Camaro, pricing-wise. I just looked at a window sticker for a 2007 S2000: (as near as makes no difference) $34,500!

Now adjust for inflation in 2013 dollars: $38,300.

FR-S: $25,500.

Obviously a used S2000 isn't going to cost $34k now, but looking at what that car cost new and what it offered vs. the FR-S new and what it offers is truly impressive. For an extra $9,000 all you got was an extra 37hp and a retractable top. I think I'd take the FR-S based on that alone. The used car market levels that out a little, but a low-low-mileage AP2 S2000 still books for $25-27k.

So true. I've yet to find a gearshift like the S2000 or RSX-S. If there was one thing Honda knew how to do well, it was manual transmissions.

I personally love the looks of the FR-S, but everyone's got different tastes.

BMW 5spd Getrags are amazing, when the bushings aren't worn out of course. MK1 MR2's have a great shifter too, especially for being not directly connected to the gearbox. (Of course, these are all older than the S2000) Some of the worst shifters I've experienced were in the Porsche Cayman and Lotus Elise, oddly enough. These are cable-activated too, but how Toyota managed to have a better shifter feel than a Porsche is beyond me.
