I used to have a AMD 9590. If you know much about AMD stuff then you know the CPU voltage was insane on that thing and it ran very hot. Got that 360mm cooler to keep it cool and stable. Just kept the cooler when I switched sides and built my 1st intel setup with what I listed above. Now I have plenty of cooling for when I do overclock it more. Currently it is overclocked to a very modest 4.5GHZ

Just finished up my Hackintosh! OSX installed smooth as day. The tools have really come a long way in the last few years. I had a very small issue with getting nVidia drivers to work, but that was fixed with some quick kexting. Only issue now is that running the resolution at 3840x2160 results in everything being wayyyyy too small, as OSX is not automatically setting up "HiDPI" scaling. I'll have to do a bit of trickery to get around that, but it should take care of all my problems. Geekbench scores for the stock 6700K were pretty decent at 5256 SC, 16842 MC. CPU is running very frosty with the H100i, so there might be some overclocking in the future.

The only real issue that's left is figuring out how to ramp the fan curve in OSX. None of the tools in OSX really work, and Gigabyte's BIOS doesn't really help. In GPU benchmarks like Unigine Heaven, the GPU hits about 85°C and doesn't ramp the GPU fan up till very late. Based on score, I imagine it's throttling the GPU clock a fair bit. I'm fairly certain my fan setup is fine. 2 NF-F12s pulling through the rad in the front, one NF-A12 exhausting in the rear. I'll post pics when I get the chance.

Running OSX just because or is there an actual reason you want the OSX OS?

I'm just an old man set in his Final Cut ways. I don't mind Adobe Premiere, but just prefer FCPX. As such, I need OSX. I'll be running Windows on a separate drive, mostly for games. On top of that, I just prefer using OSX for day to day use. Not for any performance reasons, just like the UX.

Out of curiosity, ever used Pinnacle Studio on the PC? I don't do anything in-depth, but have done some editing for church and school performances (as well as hours of home video) with it and have always been happy with it. Never used FCPX.

Nah, can't say I've ever heard of it. I'll check it out though! The main thing with me and Final Cut is that over the last decade of usage, I've bought numerous plugins (some of which didn't even transfer to FCPX!) and tools, etc so I'm almost too invested in the ecosystem. The video that comes out the other side isn't bad either!

I'm actually making a video on this Hackintosh build, so that should be pretty fun! It probably won't be out soon

It was an off-shoot of their old Pinnacle Liquid product which was their studio quality editing software that was pretty heavily used.

I'm not an expert video editor by any means, but I found it very easy to use and it has a lot of add-ins/features including in it at a very reasonable price (that has dropped substantially over the years). It has changed owners a couple of times, and I am a few versions behind so I can't really speak to their current version.
