Smile My Unichip Experience

Until last Friday, I only had the TRD intake in my car. Got my unichip delivered and installed it the same night.

Here are my observations:
-Butt dyno is very happy. Enough of a power bump to clearly feel it.
-car is much more pleasant to drive.
-Idle much smoother.
-Sightly louder engine/exhaust note

Pulls
-Was with a FR-s buddy to do the install, he has the Perrin crank pulley, TRD intake, and TRD catback.
-Baseline pulls were done in 3-4-5-6 gears. In all of them, before unichip, he had a slight advantage, slowly crawling away from me. In all of third gear, he would get about half a car over me. All other gears, he was also crawling, but we didn't want to go into high speeds.
-After install, pulls were done in 3-4-5 gears. Now, we didn't have much time to do them, but now it was me who was slowly crawling away from him in 3rd, more noticeably in 4th and 5th.

Conclusion
-now, as much as this is only a small sampling, the effect of the unichip seems to be greater on the car than the TRD exhaust and perrin pulley combined.

A special thanks to the folks at unichip for their excellent and professional service... Very much unlike some of the other tuners on these forums whose ''immaturity'' pushed me away from some of the other tuning options. As some users have been saying would happen to them, they WILL lose potential customers over being unprofessional, even on online forums.

Stay tuned for updates, as my buddy's car also has the unichip on order, and we'll certainly be conducting the same ''tests'' again.

Update

So I finally got to try out the re-map software.

A few observations on that front...

Software is simple but buggy. It causes errors, and needs Ctrl+Alt+Del to force close and restart on some occasions... Instructions say that is normal... For these reasons it took me numerous times to get things right.

Instructions that come with the download cable are essentially useless. Not clear, not complete and confusing. Screen grabs shown also do not reflect files available online and make initial donloading/installation more complex than it should be.

All that being said, once I worked out the initial download and install, updated the firmware (which took me a few tries), the software was working nicely. Downloads and remapping were quick and simple.

Tried out just a few maps, but the one that unichip had preprogrammed onto the module seemed to be working best.

Over all, I remain very happy with the product and would definitely recommend it.

Now I just need to go do some reading to figure out timing and fuelling. Suggestions? The map that it came with is for 92 octane, and I run 94, but I do not know by how much it would be safe to lean out and advance timing.. Any thoughts?

This claim is preposterous. How does software alter the baffles in the exhaust?

.....so, by changing the way the engine burns the air / fuel mixture, effectivly changing the explosion, would not change the sound coming out of the exhaust............

SCIENCE!!!! its what you should of learned in school...............or by playing with firecrackers

Wah? The bigger the engine go boom, the louder it is? Seems pretty simple to me.

I lolz at this. Any tune that advances the timing and/or leans the fuel will make the car louder.

Are you one of those people that doesnt know the sun is a star?

Only kidding
